April 26, 200719 yr Heard WK has been spending the last 3 or 4 days in Louisville checking the guys out. I see some changes in the bullpen being made soon. Right now I would trade our bullpen for Louivilles staff, and other than Baily, I don't know that much about them...........just that there is supposed to be a few promising pitchers down there.

And last night: Lead off walks...Phillips bunts on a 1-0 count, Dunn grounds out without seeing a strike, Griffey flies out without seeing a strike...Inning over without making the pitcher throw a strike, FIRST INNING! Did Jerry Narron or these guys play little league?

I hope your drawing from more than Javy's very limited time behind the dish this season. I won't go on a rant as of yet, but as dynamic as a baseball season tends to be,,,,you fix the problems and issues as they arise. You have no choice, every game of the 162 is crucial, especially in the worst division in baseball. Currently, our ERA with Javy behind the plate is not our problem. Having our own guys cross the dish is the issue. I say start Javy.

Also, it is pointed out that Ross has thrown out 4 of the 5 runners that have tried to steal against him. The catcher position is first and foremost a defensive position.

April 26, 200719 yr Brantley made the comment a couple of games ago that the defensive position of catcher is not the "quarterback" that people are under the assumption that it is. He said that a catcher will call most of the pitches that a rookie/inexperienced pitcher may throw in an inning. Guys like we have (Harang,Milton, Arroyo, Lohse, etc.) have their own idea, have studied tendencies on the scouting reports, blah, blah, and they shake off to get what they want anyway. So, I say phooey on the "called a good game" for our catchers. Let the one play that can hit. Perhaps the SB percentage may rise, who knows?! Perhaps our runs per game may rise and guys like Milton, Lohse, and Arroyo won't have to sue for non-support.
