It's not like there is a guy on the bench that is a lock to get on. The odds say they were giving up an out either way...

Hit Bronson 1st and bury him or let the Pen face the top of the Cards order. Like I said, I don't have many issues with Baseball Guy, but I saw this as a walking contradiction...

Arroyo said he was fine, he was ready to go back out there, but as soon as he got in the dugout, Dick Pole was there to greet him with, "Good game." Bronson's a guy who never wants to come out of the game, but he understood the reasoning behind the hook. Like last week when he had a bad outing, Kirk Saarloos was sitting at his locker ready for us. He was most upset with the walk to Duncan. He said he was really trying to get a double play and Duncan fouled off the one he thought would do it. And then he walked him and set up Pujols. There, he just left it over the plate. "I stunk" is how he put it. Also talked to Hatteberg about the error. He made a good point. He was playing further away from the bag with Wilson batting, so when it was hit, he was going full speed toward the bag, and had longer to go. He said Gonzalez tried to get it there quicker to try to make sure Taguchi stayed at second and the ball sailed a little bit, but not too much. The ball was pretty much on its way to first by the time Hatteberg got to the bag and his weight was still headed toward the inside part of the bag, while the ball was to the outside. He didn't have time to shift his weight. "If I'm already at the bag, I get it," Hatteberg said.

This was addressed last week in the Enquirer. He purposely said to not read much into it as this trip has been on the agenda for awhile. It is a scheduled trip and not just to go see if there is anyone down there to help immediately. Although I am sure that will be one of the discussions while he is down there.
