It is a two horse race between Mackey and Miller, but don't be surprised if by the end of the year you hear Arrez Henderson from Holmes name thrown in the dicussion, I'm not saying he will win it, I believe Miller will, but he will be heard.

With Bud Mackey going to Indiana, Darius Miller can commit to Kentucky and win Mr. Basketball. I'm not saying that's always how it happens, but I'm also not sure how Josh Carrier was the best player in the state a few years back! Or Brandon Stockton, for that matter!

There are a LOT of good juniors in the 11th this year: Mackey - Scott Co; Mack - Bryan Station; Moses - Henry Clay; Novosel - Catholic; Sparks - Tates Creek; Morris - Madison Central

 

It will be another great year of hoops in Central KY!

Very well could be. One advantage for Crawford is that this year's sophomore class is not as strong or deep as this years senior or junior class. Good luck to Josh. Corbin should be the 13th region favorite next year and the year after. He could showcase his talents in Rupp.

I'm guessing that Mason County fans would be looking forward to discussing Mr. Miller's Mr. Basketball chances in 2008 regardless of how the 2007 season ended.

 

You can never take anything for granted. I rerember standing in line after the 2003 semifinal to get tickets for the final game vs. Ballard. A friend said something along the lines of "It sure would be nice to win two titles in a row" (a reference to the fact that Mason County's team was comprised of mostly juniors and seniors; and Chris Lofron had been using Rupp Arena as his personal playground). I said that I'd be tickled to death with one in a row - too many things can happen and you can never assume anything. We all know what happened - a key player for Mason County suspended, a Warren Central juggernaut - and the streak of state titles stopped at one in a row for the Royals.

 

Seasons only end the way they want for one team. Had Mason County won the region in 2007 and lost to Scott County in the final game, it wouldn't have ended the way they wanted. And after the state tournament was over, it would be time to start thinking about the next year.

 

Now that the season is over, it is time to look to next year. And there is, at Mason County, a young man who is a legitimate contender for Mr. Basketball. There are folks over here in Maysville who are excited about his chances, and rightfully so.

 

And when there is a legitimate contender for Mr. Basketball at Bracken County; I won't begrudge the fans in Brooksville their opportunity to discuss his chances.

I've always maintained that most of the coaches that voted for Carrier probably hadn't seen him play. At best, he was the seventh best player in the state that year, behind O'Bannon, Hurt, Chiles, Sparks, Dawn and Bender. Maybe even Thornton ...
