For non UK Fans?

Featured Replies

Just out of curiosity, what makes non UK fans dislike the cats so much? I've always heard it's because of the fans. Is this true or is there another reason?

Probably seven national championships, more wins than any other program, no matter who the coach has been they have all enjoyed at least one thirty win season, over 20,000 fans showing up just for a pre season practice....these things and a lot more probably help fuel an inferiority complex in some. But then again if you take it over to college football people think the same of Notre Dame and USC fans as well.

It's the small but very vocal minority for me...

I will step up and give my reason.

I was a UK fan when I was younger, but I was also a UNC fan. I loved Turpin, Bowie, Jordan, & Worthy. I was told by UK fans (and not in a good way) to chose because you can not like both. So I said fine I chose UNC. I did not start disliking UK right off the bat, but the bashing I took for liking UNC slowly turned me that way. :thumb:

100%, it's the fans, at least for me. Not to say that there aren't fans of every team like this, but in my experiences as a Louisville fan especially, UK fans are the most arrogont, obnoxious, "Our stuff don't stink" bunch of fans that I have ever seen...Great, you have 7 titles, I think that's good, really...It puts the Commonwealth on the map as a basketball state, something we should all be proud of. At the same time, you need to act with a bit of humility and modesty, something many UK fans have trouble with. To a lot, there is only ONE basketball program in AMERICA, and that is the Kentucky Wildcats. I understand being passionate about your team, because I am passionate about my Cardinals. But UK fans just take it over the top...

And before anybody says it, I know that not all UK fans are like that. Although I think more are like this than many will be willing to admit, there are definitley rational UK fans, something I only learned here on BGP. The rational ones I actually feel bad for, because they have to deal with the numbskulls who ruin it for everybody...

^ the fans turn me against UK...

I'm a UK fan, so, probably shouldn't even get on this thread, but, I'm going to anyway....I feel alot of the UK haters don't really hate UK as much as they hate the arrogance of some of the UK fans, who think UK basketball is king of the world...It's a great program with great tradition and support, but, there are other programs with as much as UKs(NCarolina, Duke, UCLA, Kansas) to name a few. I would also say jealousy is part of it, too. Everyone loves to hate on the Big Fish and root for the underdog and UK will never be that...

That was the first thought I had when I read it too and I love UK basketball.

I understand that completely. I grew up a UK fan but attended WKU, and was told by some very, very bitter people that I needed to choose. And like you, not in a nice way. Can't begrudge you your feelings at all.

It's no secret, I dislike both UK and their fans. The fans are very arrogant.

1) You have 7 national championships. How many in the past 20 years? 2.

QUIT LIVING IN THE PAST!!!

2) They think if their program loses a game they have to come up with a million reasons as to why they lost. (Refs, fould trouble, player missing, hurt, etc). Be a little more humble and admit you got beat by a better team that night.

3) UK isn't the basketball capital of the world. If they were, they'd be winning more national championships and have more success than in recent years.

Basically it's the fans who turned me against UK and they can never be satisfied and are huge critics about everything. NOT all, but most.

UK fans tried to bully me into cheering for UK and hating UNC. I chose to walk my own path. :walk:
