For non UK Fans?

Featured Replies

For me, it's all about the fans. I have no problem with successful programs.

I'm a die-hard UL fan and I appreciate success. I don't cheer against success. I welcome competetion for my team. I think being successful is the culmination of years of "steps".

My problem with UK fans is the general snobbishness they display toward other teams, especially the Cards. I dislike the downright mean-spiritedness many display toward other teams, and other players. I dislike the sense of entitlement that many UK fans have-"We're UK, bow down in awe".

I dislike the lack of sportsmanship displayed by their fans. Sportsmanship should be displayed by not only the program, but the fans. Don't forget-you as a fan represent the team you root for.

I dislike the fact that while UK fans continue to rest their laurels on bygones, they never give respect to teams who are earning their laurels today.

I dislike the fact that whenever a rival team achieves a modicum of success, UK fans are there to tear it down-attack the schedule, attack the rival's opponent, attack the rival,s players, attack the rival's coach. It's as if by attacking they somehow justify shortcomings in their own team's achievements.

I dislike that UK fans can't understand the effects of parity among college athletics. I dislike that UK fans can't understand that kids have other choices that may be better for them.

I dislike the fact that UK fans are so quick to call for their coaches' heads, despite what others see as success.

I dislike that UK fans feel they have some "inside" knowledge on what success is, as if no one else could possibly understand what success is.

I dislike that UK fans can't appreciate competition and success in others.

Well...that's my short list. :sssh:

I love UK, but I thought I'd chime in on here.

I'm completely embarrassed by the UK fanbase (not all, but for lack of a better term, the 18%s). I started noticing it about 2-3 years ago. They act like they are entitled to college basketball royalty, why, I'll never know.

I love UK basketball as I said above, but I try to distance myself from the fanbase as they honestly flatout embarrass me.

On another side note, and I'm might get torched for this....as I love UK basketball, I also am a pretty big U of L fan. I have both logos in my wardrobe to say.

When UK and U of L play, I like it when UK comes out on top but it's not that bad when U of L wins either.

Just out of curiosity, what makes non UK fans dislike the cats so much? I've always heard it's because of the fans. Is this true or is there another reason?

The fans pure and simple....the 18% have made it easier for me.

I love UK, but I thought I'd chime in on here.

:thumb: Everyone on here knows I feel the same.

Probably seven national championships, more wins than any other program

BINGO...

People can say whatever but I say this is the reason the majority dislikes the UK basketball program...

It never fails:laugh:

When have the fans started to be "bad"? I thought everyone has gotten along pretty well until the last several years when we haven't been winning. It was "Camelot" when Pitino was here & for roughly 6 to 7 years of Tub. It wasnt under Eddie Sutton & probation but until recently, the program & the fans have let their actions speak. Now that Tubby has turned UK into Enron, things need to be changed!!

I dont get this attitude that some have!! Are we suppose to like LOSING??? If UK is losing, something is wrong & it needs to be fixed. Plain & simple. Tubby isnt running for a noble peace prize, he's a basketball coach that is paid a lot of $$ to win "big" games. If I dont do my job, I'll get fired but i'm a nice guy (believe it or not). Tub should be held to the same standards.

What about UCLA??

I started noticing the fans were bad when I became a BGP member... I guess the isolation before kept me from realizing so.

Make no mistake, they are bad... Whether you choose to accept it or not.

I will agree that they (& myself) wanted Tubby to leave but they havent always been bad. when did you join? 2 or 3 years ago!!

What about UCLA??

People want to see the elite fall and the elite of college basketball fall is UK, UCLA, Duke, IU, KU, and UNC....thats the way I view it atleast.

So you agree that they're bad?

I dislike most other UK fans, I can't help it. Away from UK basketball, they're great people... Get them talking about it, and I'd rather talk about something else.

I don't choose to feel the way I feel... I just do.

After the home loss to Florida this year I was with some people and they were mad about the loss. They were complaining about this year and last and I asked them what thier standards were for a coach at UK, this is what I was told.

No more than 3-4 losses a year.

Sweet 16 at minimum every year

NEVER lose a home game

Top 5 recruiting class every year

Win either SEC regular or Tournament champ or both every 2 years

3 Seed at minimum in NCAA tourney

That's beyond insane:confused:
