March 27, 200719 yr That's not as funny as the guy the other day... Can't remember who... Who posted they should be in the final four every 2 years and win the championship at least every five.

March 27, 200719 yr So you agree that they're bad? I dislike most other UK fans, I can't help it. Away from UK basketball, they're great people... Get them talking about it, and I'd rather talk about something else. I don't choose to feel the way I feel... I just do. If "bad" means that they want to win & are not satisfied w/ 2 bad seasons then YES. If "bad" means that our former head coach Tubby Smith who made all the basketball decisions for 8 years caused 2 horrible ones, then YES. If "bad" means that some are willing to stand up & say "we need to change things", then YES If "bad" means that Tubby was given plenty of slack after the championship & all we've gotten is mediocrity, then YES. All us "Tubby Bashers" will back the new coach & will give him time to change things around since I did not have faith in Tubby to do it & am 110% glad that he is in MN, where he they will be pleased w/ an 8 seed. "Tubby Supporters" on the other side, I do not think, will be as willing to accept the change. Get over it, Tubby was going to leave, one way or the other!! Its good for him & its great for UK.
March 27, 200719 yr I love UK, but I thought I'd chime in on here. I'm completely embarrassed by the UK fanbase (not all, but for lack of a better term, the 18%s). I started noticing it about 2-3 years ago. They act like they are entitled to college basketball royalty, why, I'll never know. I love UK basketball as I said above, but I try to distance myself from the fanbase as they honestly flatout embarrass me. Great post. I honetsly feel sorry for some of these people. They truly need some professional help. Their whole life is UK basketball. These people that would camp out for 2-3 weeks to get in line for Midnight Madness, name their kids some God awful name because it had something to do with UK basketball. You just have to read the message boards, and listen to the call in shows, and you'll realize that some of these people are just so eat up with it, that they simply cannot enjoy those things in life that truly should make you enjoy life.

I'm not a Tubby supporter... I never was... I always tried to look at things without any sort of blinders on, and more often than not I did find myself saying that UK was better off with Tubby at the time than any coach that they had a realistic shot of getting. If I'm wrong, it won't be the first time nor will it be the last. I asked if you agreed that they were bad because you said "They haven't always been bad". That signifiies to me that you're saying they're bad now... Not really much else to address in your post... It's the same stuff I've read over and over and over and over again on this board for ages now. I wish someone else could bring something new to the table. All these threads are the exact same.
March 27, 200719 yr 100%, it's the fans, at least for me. Not to say that there aren't fans of every team like this, but in my experiences as a Louisville fan especially, UK fans are the most arrogont, obnoxious, "Our stuff don't stink" bunch of fans that I have ever seen...Great, you have 7 titles, I think that's good, really...It puts the Commonwealth on the map as a basketball state, something we should all be proud of. At the same time, you need to act with a bit of humility and modesty, something many UK fans have trouble with. To a lot, there is only ONE basketball program in AMERICA, and that is the Kentucky Wildcats. I understand being passionate about your team, because I am passionate about my Cardinals. But UK fans just take it over the top... And before anybody says it, I know that not all UK fans are like that. Although I think more are like this than many will be willing to admit, there are definitley rational UK fans, something I only learned here on BGP. The rational ones I actually feel bad for, because they have to deal with the numbskulls who ruin it for everybody... :thumb: and it is even hard as a UK fan.

Agreed, they (including myself) are more outspoken now than sometimes before & this is sometimes bad behavior but its for a reason. You try to look at both sides, do you not think that change is sometimes a good solution??? I see some positives for Tubby to stay but w/ the situation, its best to start fresh for both sides. I do not think that Tubby would have gotten a fair deal here & it isnt necessarily fair to him or the program. So, I think things will work out for the best (for both parties)
March 27, 200719 yr The trouble w/ life is that People have opinions!! If you do not agree with them, then its a problem. But if your running for office, then your views, ideas & thought seem to widen to include almost anyone (except terrorist of course).

So, I think things will work out for the best (for both parties) It depends on who the coach is... Some of the names I've seen thrown about I don't want at all... Rick Barnes? Texas can keep him... Travis Ford? Nowhere near ready to jump from UMass to UMess. Tom Crean? Excuse me while I watch this paint dry.

If i could find a better wife than I have, I would get divorced & remarry but that's hard to arrange. Maybe we could hire 5 for a month each & then choose. i'm just hoping the powers that be (MB) will make a good choice. He may call & ask my suggest but I highly doubt that. UK was a mess & Tubby was underfire, so the best thing happened, imo

Integrity is something no amount of money can by. He proved that when he left the money on the table. He's a good man and has a great family and I wish them the best. I just hope that the next coach brings the same class to the program as the one that just left. I just hope the fans can come to live with 2 bad seasons isn't the end of the world.
March 27, 200719 yr Author They say "Adversity builds character", lets all hope that what is happening now adds positive character to the program and makes it stronger in the long run.
March 27, 200719 yr BINGO... People can say whatever but I say this is the reason the majority dislikes the UK basketball program... Well in my time as a basketball fan..my favorite program is not looking up to UK...jealousy is not my m.o.
