Maybe we could hire 5 for a month each & then choose. i'm just hoping the powers that be (MB) will make a good choice. He may call & ask my suggest but I highly doubt that. UK was a mess & Tubby was underfire, so the best thing happened, imo Clearly I understand that there will be a search, but some of the candidates that are being thrown out there are laughable at best... And if UK hires one of them, things will not get any better IMO. There's a select few candidates that I really feel can do any better at UK than Tubby... A very select few... Otherwise it's lateral AT BEST.
March 27, 200719 yr Well in my time as a basketball fan..my favorite program is not looking up to UK...jealousy is not my m.o. Ok...I still say a majority dislikes UK and the other elite programs because of their success....
March 27, 200719 yr I for one can understand why there are UK haters. I am a big UK fan for close to 50 years(and I also do root for the Cards when they are not playing UK). I used to enjoy going out to the local tavern and watching a UK game, but I got so I could not stand the ignorance I had to listen to. I just stay home and enjoy my games with my daughter and wife, now. We do have some very arrogant loud mouth fans, and seems the more they don't know about the game the more loud mouth they are. Also on the other hand I know a lot of good UK fans, but it only takes one rotten apple to spoil the bunch.
March 27, 200719 yr Another question would be: Do non UK fans outside of KY hate UK as much as the ones within the state? I doubt it, mainly because they don't get the full force of ignorance as we do from some of the fans.
March 27, 200719 yr To answer the original question, it is 100% the fans for me. There isn't a university in KY that I don't root for besides UK. Even teams close by such as Cincy, X, UT etc. I wish I could root for UK but the fans keep me from doing so.

March 27, 200719 yr It's no secret, I dislike both UK and their fans. The fans are very arrogant. 1) You have 7 national championships. How many in the past 20 years? 2. QUIT LIVING IN THE PAST!!! . How many schools in that 20 year stretch have more than 2?

March 27, 200719 yr I will step up and give my reason. I was a UK fan when I was younger, but I was also a UNC fan. I loved Turpin, Bowie, Jordan, & Worthy. I was told by UK fans (and not in a good way) to chose because you can not like both. So I said fine I chose UNC. I did not start disliking UK right off the bat, but the bashing I took for liking UNC slowly turned me that way. :thumb: Sorry to hear that,it would not been a problem for me if you were a UNC and UK fan, hope you come back to us.:thumb:

March 27, 200719 yr When I was a kid growing up in Bowling Green, KY, my parents worked at WKU and had season tickets for the basketball team. I remember being able to watch Pervis Ellison, Lancaster Gordon, Charles Barkley, and many many players that were stars in their own right during their college careers. UK never ever entertained the thought of playing WKU and I resented that as a child. I hated the UK basketball program, not the school. I eventually became a fan of Duke and recall with glorious memory the day my best friend hung up on me and wouldn't come pick me up so we could hang out the night of the greatest college basketball game ever played. I actually ended up enrolling at UK and was a student there when Roderick Rhodes was waived by Pitino. I have watched so many things happen at this school that make me sick and it makes me wish mediocrity on the basketball program. The UK fans don't help with the hatred I hold in my heart for UK basketball. Yeah, they have a successful program, but they are not the greatest, let alone the classiest. The arrogance of the fans is uncalled for. To think you can have any coach you want is ignorant(why not get Coach K or Roy Williams?). I have been disgusted with UK basketball and have actually felt sorry for you guys because even UK fans don't even fight for their beloved school anymore. I was hoping you guys would get Pitino so I could bring back the full fledged hatred I hold in my heart for UK that peaked when Roderick Rhodes was waived for a national championship.
March 27, 200719 yr Take a brief read of any UK message board and you will understand why Louisville fans have a rather strong dislike for UK. But beyond that, I think the major recurring issue when dealing with the UK fanbase at large is the general disregard for other college programs. I find more UK fans who seem to only be concerned with the dealings of UK and UK only that they are commonly ignorant to the point of disrespectful to other programs.

March 27, 200719 yr After the home loss to Florida this year I was with some people and they were mad about the loss. They were complaining about this year and last and I asked them what thier standards were for a coach at UK, this is what I was told. No more than 3-4 losses a year. Sweet 16 at minimum every year NEVER lose a home game Top 5 recruiting class every year Win either SEC regular or Tournament champ or both every 2 years 3 Seed at minimum in NCAA tourney That's beyond insane:confused: You're right! They want to be like Duke.
