I can see where he's coming from. This kid clearly isn't concerned about playing college basketball. He wants to be a pro. He IS a pro. Props to Oden and Durant for at least acting like they care about their program and their college educations. Mayo has made it clear this is all about him. No one else. Mayo's not the one that made it all about him. We did. As GT will be MORE than happy to tell you, Durrant was far from the top dog coming out of high school. Oden has a lot of potential, but it's not a national secret that there's a lot in his game to work on. He has a lot of growing into his own to do.

 

Mayo, on the other hand. As far as serious hoops fans go, his name has been on everyone's radar since he was a CHILD. Can you really presume, placed in his environment at his age, that you would turn out to be better? I won't.

With the new NBA ruling, only time will tell what options players will take to bypass college but one is going overseas and playing ball in the European league which I feel will strengthen that league up some if all of the best high school talent goes and plays over there each year but will seriously hinder the college game. Who knows right now.

I completely agree, but he wasn't raised by basketball fans. I am going to assume his homelife is rocky, at best, and home is where you should learn those sort of values. I almost feel sorry for him.

I did not say at the PRO level, the kid CLEARLY could care less about college basketball and I just do not want him to get all the attention on ESPN, CBS, etc, its all about attention to him...

It will be interesting to see how the control issue plays out. The returning Trojan players have to read this and know that OJ will run the show from Day 1. So when they're on the court, do they listen to Coach? Or do they listen to OJ? With whom do you cast your lots?

Why not? OJ at a non basketball school like USC? Yeah right... OJ could do amzaing things for any program. In fact I know of a few coaches at traditionally black schools. Maybe I should call up my man.
