Taking nothing away from anyone else in the tournament, but those three probably one of if not the most athletic front court in the tournament. I know that Holmes's front court is also outstanding.

 

Those three are going to be going to war with the Holmes guys. I can't wait for the game. It's going to be an outstanding match up.

I have known both Stepp boys since they were babies. Clark is a very serious kid and nothing and I do mean nothing bothers Clint. You will see Clint cut loose a 35 footer.

When we talk about Elliott Co, you have to mention Jon Ferguson along with all others that were mentioned.

Greg Rice, after fouling out the last time the dawgs were at Rupp I don't see him letting his team go down like that again.

Preston Knowles from GRC for sure. I saw him in the 10th region championship, leads the team well, and creates his own shot very well. He would not let his team lose to Mason Co. in the Championship.

 

Greg Finch from Oldham Co. many don't know about him but he is a very muscular, physical player, he crashes the boards hard, has a nice shot and muscles players up.

Potentially the best PG, he's only a freshman. If he plays at Rupp like he did in the games I seen him play in then you'll see what i'm talking about. Not overexagerating at all. Maybe the Pistol Pete commet was a bit off the wall but he's that type of player, style wise..lol

 

I've seen Shelby Valley play a couple of time this season, including the preseason scrimmage against Cumberland. I agree that he is a VERY solid PG, I would put he and Josh Whitaker of Bell Co. (also freshman) at about the same caliber of player. Very, very quick with excellent handles. I'm not sure that i would annoint him the best PG, though he is a fun player to watch.

Seen the kid play AAU ball since he was a 4th grader. He is quick, a very good ball handler, and shooter. I think I am correct in saying that he repeated 7th or 8th grade. If I am correct he would be one of the older Freshman.

Your affinity for Holmes is admirable, but both are very debatable statements.

It will be a tough Matchup for them had Ashland won then I believe Shelby Valley may had Struggled. SV is a team with quick guards who make very few mistakes and usually control the pace very well and suprisingly have some pretty good athletes. They should come out on top this game but if not it'll be the youth of Valley they have 3 freshman starters and their top 6 are underclassmen, so get used to seing this team in Rupp.

 

Players to watch for SV:

Elijah Justice/Freshman PG-Could be the best ball handler to come out of the 15th region since Jermey Hall of Allen Central(Wisconsin). Potentially the best PG in the tournament. MVP of the 15th regional Championship. The Closest thing to "Pistol" Pete Marovich in KY HS basketball today.

Ashley Hatifield/ Freshman Foward-Has all the potential in the world.

I wasn,t impressed much with Profit seemed weak against good defense at GRC loss. Knowles is real deal for GRC.

When Rice went out Holmes was up 6 with 1:45 to go. As soon as he came out, WC went on a 8-0 run and beat the Dawgs 56-54. Not having his presence down low and scoring threat hurt the Dawgs down the stretch.

 

Not saying Holmes would have won state or even made it but the game would have had a different outcome. Rice was the best player on the floor that day despite being a sophomore. i believe he finished the game with 23 points.

Tyler Maynard from Elliott might be another player to watch for. He went 6of 7 from behind the arc inthe region championship game.

 

 

Not the 1st time he has went 6 of 7 this year, sad part is he doesn't get the 7 to 10 looks he should a game.

Ryan Young from Lincoln; quick off the dribble, if he could develop a jump shot he'd be tough to guard.
