March 9, 200719 yr Last year they were extremely lucky to get invited to the field of 65. This year they have a legit shot at an at-large bid. Do they make it? Closed season with 4 straight losses, including a loss to TCU which is considered a bad loss because of their 178 RPI, then close with a loss to Wyoming, another 100+ RPI team. Will the committee take three from the Mountain West?
March 9, 200719 yr It depends IMO. If San Diego State wins the MWC tournament, which I think they will, than Air Force is left home. If SDS doesn't win it, Air Force gets the MWC's 3rd bid.
March 9, 200719 yr Best win is Texas Tech it looks like. I dunno its close. Beat UNLV once and lost once. Lost to BYU twice. I say out.
March 9, 200719 yr Logic says out. The members of the selection committee would seem to say in. I hope logic prevails...
March 9, 200719 yr You are the first one I thought of when i saw the thread title. I don't even know what I have against this team. I should be cheering them on since they're defending our country and all, but I strongly dislike them. You know how there are certain teams you just can't stand? For me, it's Air Force and Clemson. At least for this season.

You know how there are certain teams you just can't stand? For me, it's Air Force and Clemson. At least for this season. I think they may get a bit of pass for that reason and the fact that they have an ex-NBA coach out there. If it was Joe Nobody coaching Direction U. I dont think there would be a question.
March 9, 200719 yr I think they should be out, but like GT, I think they will get an undeserved invitation. Horribly over-rated. From February 7 -- Don't over-use the "mid-major" term as a back-handed label. Southern Illinois is capable of beating anyone in America and is built for a deep run in March. Just because Air Force (and Butler) isn't, doesn't mean none of them are.
March 9, 200719 yr I'm stealing this from an article earlier this week (can't remember who, though), but Air Force might get in because of geography. The committee tries to maintain some sort of balance and not load the bracket with all "eastern" teams. There aren't as many good western teams and because of that, Air Force might get in.
