I was at the game and have a few comments

 

The charge at the end shouldnt of been a charge and Dixie should of been tied and should of been at the line shooting 1

Also two of Dixie starters were like 0/15 from the field which killed them

I really think Simpson is a great player and needs some help on the offense of side

I also think that Wise fouls a lot and the rest of Highlands do too.

Yes, those guys rock after listening to this game. The Brossart guys are not too bad either.

It was like I was listening to my 6 yr old step son tell me a story about him catching a snake or something. First I went here, then I grabbed this and then I , no, i think i did this, then we caught him .blah blah blah. just confusing.

That's because half of them are football players trying to play basketball....

Why in the heck did the Dixie coach sit the big kid for so long? That coaching decision cost his team big time. Unless the young man was sick or something I didn't see the logic of sitting him for such a long period of time.

They did make it sound like Hurtt made a great steal of the inbounds pass at the end, I was not aware it as gifted to him.

 

I'd love a shot at announcing those games. Maybe I should take a few pointers from the CovCath guys and share some of their same exuberance. :dancingpa

I was there. They didn't go to Mace because Chevy kept taking him out of the game. There were a couple of long stretches where Luke just sat. I must say though, Pompilio is a HORSE. He's going to be a nice player his senior year.

 

I like the previous post a while back about 5 different view points of a basketball game - the coach, player, fan/spectator, parent and ref. Luke Mace has come a long way this past year, works hard , is a tremendous kid and will get his college paid for after next year if he chooses to go that route. In the game vs. Highlands however Luke picked up two fouls in the first half along with Kyle Kendall and sat out which is standard procedure for most teams and in the second half Highlands went to an open post offense and spread the floor in the 4th quarter and with Dixie playing from behind they needed a smaller quicker line up in the game to move out and pressure the ball. With the smaller quicker line up in the game they came from 10 points down to tie the game and made things interesting. Highlands (Simpson) made the plays down the stretch and won the game. It was a tough way for Dixie to end it's season, especially for their two hard-working seniors but they have lots of returning experience for next season.

 

Pompilio is a hard working kid and was a pleasant surprise this season as a sophomore and will certainly be a big part of the program for the next few years at Dixie.

 

Good luck to the remaining teams in the tournament.

You should contact the CovCath folks who do their internet broadcast to learn the particulars and then start something similar for the Birds. I don't know how much cost is involved, but I think you'd find some folks willing to cough up some mula. It may become the spring board to a new occupation for you. First Highlands and then ESPN:ylsuper:

Simpson drops 24 I believe on Dixie and the Birds squeak into the Semis. Huge steal at the end on the inbounds by the Birds best man -man defender Zach Hurtt. Someone needs to support Simpson offensively. Hopefully Simons will have a better shooting night and Wise can stay in the game longer. They will need an all out effort from everyone to beat the CCH Colonels. Nice defense until the 4th period for the Birds and they seemed to fall apart and let Dixie back in it.

 

It was tough following the game listening to NKY.com...I'm sorry but they were just atrocious. I wonder what you have to do to get that gig. Congrats to the Birds for earning the victory over the Colonels.

When the audience can't understand what you're saying, its a problem. I understand excitement, but, you still have to modulate and enunciate.

 

It would also be helpful if they gave the score more often.

I just listened to the replay and I didn't think it was that bad. These guys are young and just trying to get some experience. I will pass on the constructive criticism to them.

It is ok to cut your teeth but when its the only outlet in town it is frustrating. When I was in school there were radio broadcasts of the games. WTSJ with Kevin Rengering/Randy Wilson/ Gary Ball., Dale Mcmillian. Interviews after the game, etc.

 

I understand when the redlight flicks on its a whole new ballgame but too many times they made mistakes with who had the ball, who was inbounding, who fouled, so constructive criticism would probably benefit them for their next broadcast.
