How much time was left before the bad pass/steal?

I just listened to the replay and I didn't think it was that bad. These guys are young and just trying to get some experience. I will pass on the constructive criticism to them.

 

I listened too and they could use some constructive criticism. What's the point of getting experience if it is bad experience?

 

Nobody is good the first few times out but there should be some improvement and there should be some adult feedback that teaches them the right ways of doing things.

You should contact the CovCath folks who do their internet broadcast to learn the particulars and then start something similar for the Birds. I don't know how much cost is involved, but I think you'd find some folks willing to cough up some mula. It may become the spring board to a new occupation for you. First Highlands and then ESPN:ylsuper:

 

I am doing internet radio broadcasts of my son's school's games here in Illinois and have started a program at Lincoln County in Kentucky (my alma mater). We are broadcasting the LC games in the 12th Region tournament as a tune up for football in the fall.

 

If you are serious about starting internet coverage for Highlands, I would be glad to point you in the right direction.

Give me a laptop, microphone and Wi Fi connection up at the "STeamPit" and I wouldnt mind doing some Bird games. Is the gymnasium the last phase of the Highlands Facelift?

I like the previous post a while back about 5 different view points of a basketball game - the coach, player, fan/spectator, parent and ref. Luke Mace has come a long way this past year, works hard , is a tremendous kid and will get his college paid for after next year if he chooses to go that route. In the game vs. Highlands however Luke picked up two fouls in the first half along with Kyle Kendall and sat out which is standard procedure for most teams and in the second half Highlands went to an open post offense and spread the floor in the 4th quarter and with Dixie playing from behind they needed a smaller quicker line up in the game to move out and pressure the ball. With the smaller quicker line up in the game they came from 10 points down to tie the game and made things interesting. Highlands (Simpson) made the plays down the stretch and won the game. It was a tough way for Dixie to end it's season, especially for their two hard-working seniors but they have lots of returning experience for next season.

 

Pompilio is a hard working kid and was a pleasant surprise this season as a sophomore and will certainly be a big part of the program for the next few years at Dixie.

I get what your are noting above, but I think Chevy waited a little too long to get him back in. The Birds were killing the Colonels late on the offensive boards, if Luke fouls out he fouls out. At least you go down with your best on the floor (yes I do realize Luke took the last shot). I also think if he was in and the guards got him the ball, he lives at the charity stripe late in the game. Don't get me wrong, the Birds earned the win.

That's because half of them are football players trying to play basketball....

They are not trying to play basketball, they ARE playing basketball. Thus, making them basketball players. When football season comes, they are not basketball players TRYING to play football. They are football players. What they truly are is GREAT ATHELETES with the abilities to play muliple sports/positions. If HHS developed more "basketball only" players that were better, I'm sure they would be playing. They don't, so get over it. How come you don't see these type comments from CovCath? They play multiple sport people and do quite well.......Hmmmmmm!!!

I understand young and all, but other than Mark Wehry the color men of CovCath are students also. Jason Elfers is working on his Masters, Michael Danneman is a college freshmen at Xavier and Bill Schult is a senior at CovCath, and they do a much better job....

You want me to tell you why........HHS football/basketball players are mostly lineman and linebackers. CCH football/basketball players are all SKILLED POSITION PLAYERS. That is a huge difference when it comes to athleticism.That's why I say football players trying to play basketball.

You've overlooking one HUGE difference. You've got Mark Wehry's experience as the constant. In NKY.COM's case, they do not have the anchor with the experience. Both KIDS are rookies.
