The Raceland player, Peyton Martin, made 2 of 3. Acutally it was a bonus free throw and he missed the first. Then he sunk the two technical free throws.

 

I hope I am stating that correctly. Someone please correct me if I am wrong.

I'm not sure what the Raceland technical was for as it wasn't an "obvious" call, but the Russell technical was on Blair, who was called for a foul, and then clapped his hands and said "LETS GO DEFENSE", the referree thought he heard a cuss word, but he must have been using the "old rambler" brand hearing aid as there wasn't one said, that was one technical that should not have been called, the foul yes, the technical no.

 

I do believe that everyone in the building knew the game was not going to end

technical foul free, however. And deserving or not, Blair was T'd up for talking

as was Raceland and both technicals were in the second half. Physical decrease

plus talking increase equals more liberal apportionment of technicals for talking.

Anybody got the stats from the game. It sounded like freethrow shooting was a problem for Russell again. I was pretty sure I heard four in a row missed while Raceland was fouling at the end. This is the most frustrating thing about this team to me.

 

 

Russell actually shot well from the free-throw line for a change. I believe thet were something like 24 of 34 or 26 of 36. Everyone shot them well except for Blair who was somewhere around 6 of 14, I think. Not bad for a Russell team not known for hitting their free-throws.

Noone ever said he was bad. It was brought up that he cheers for his team because Raceland does not have radio coverage of their games so there is nothing to contrast compare. Some people think that it is wrong that the announcers for one school openly cheer for that school. Dicky was just used as an example of that.

If you change the name from T.Boyles to J. VanHoose you might have an accurate quote, T.Boyles had a head injury , not a knee injury, I hope he is all right, always nice to have the facts straight

Well it IS Russell vs Raceland. I would HOPE there was jawing each way (albeit in that friendly "Our Super Quick is cleaner than your Super Quick" kinda fun way). I can only imagine what it will be like on the field for the football game this October. :thumb:

How is Vanhoose's knee doing today?

Russell hasn't won anything yet so I wouldnt get ahead of myself on that prediction because Ashland or Elliot might have something to say about that.

So, would you be getting ahead of yourself since Ashland has yet to advance to the regional tournament? Fairview might have something to say about that.

I was at this game and it was a battle. Raceland is tough and their kids don't quit, Period! The game was 4-2 after the 1st period and Vanhoose went on to score 10 of Russell's first 12 before going down. Prayers for Jon. Boyles injury occured after hitting Gill who took the charge but Boyles landed wrong. Russell showed a lot of poise when Vanhoose went down. Robinson & Blair had 12 each and Vanhoose 10. Gill had 10 rebounds or so and an awesome dunk in traffic while playing about half the game, his first day back after about 3 weeks off. Ferguson had his 3 or 4th solid game in a row. Russell shot 70% from the foul line to ice this game. Vanhoose is the best player in the region and I don't even want to think about playing without him, but anyone who thinks this team can't win it without him or any one player, either doesn't know Russell or doesn't know basketball

Best wishes for Jonathan Vanhoose, he is a tremendous kid and a tremendous player you hate to see anyone go down that way. The Vanhoose family is in our prayers, Tyler is doing much better he was kept overnight at KDMC the Boyles family is also in our prayers. These kids on both sides deserve alot of credit they represented their school and community with pride. They worked hard all season to have the opportunity to advance in Tournament play. We all need to remember it is about the KIDS not the refs, the radio, or even the fans. The coaches work hard to make these kids both better people and better players.
