First off... the radio crew meant nothing bad with that supposed statement I am sure. It probably should not have been said, but hey people make mistakes. Secondly, I believe the comment on the furniture store tidbit was very immature. Handle the situation with a little more class!

First of all, regardless if the comment was meant with malice or not makes absolutely no difference. The fact is it went out over the air as what was said and people shouldn't have to be mind readers to decifer what was meant! Raceland fans and posters are not the ony ones that think Russell's radio broadcats are a complete joke

 

Secondly, I realized that satement about the patricualr furniture store may have been wrong, but certainly not immature. I deleted that part of the post on my own a while later.

 

Finally, I certainly don't need you to tell me waht is right or wrong with my post and If I were you I wouldn't tell anyone they are immature or to "handle it with more class", something about glass houses and throwing stones.

 

Hpopefuly now this thread can get back on comments on the game itself. I do apologize for my poar tin getting offf track, just when people trash h.s. kids I have to vent regardless if it was meant that way or not. Adults should know better, especially when their comments are going out over the air.

If you change the name from T.Boyles to J. VanHoose you might have an accurate quote, T.Boyles had a head injury , not a knee injury, I hope he is all right, always nice to have the facts straight

How did Gill look in his first game back?

 

Gill looked pretty good for having been out a few weeks. He had a very nice

catch and dunk I believe in the third quarter. If anything, he was perhaps a

half-step slower than usual, but really he was very effective in the absence

of VanHoose.

 

The game was extremely physical early on, but after the injuries both teams

eased up a bit. What was lost in physicality was picked up in verbage; the

technicals conveyed that very accurately.

You've been on here post after post dogging the Russell radio announcers for celebrating a kid's injury? You obviously were not listening very well as that never happened, but I'm sure you'll find something else to complain about.

You did get the part right about hoping that Raceland missed all 4 free throws, but you failed to mention that the Russell radio crew was rooting for Russell to win from the moment the broadcast came on, wow, what a bunch of homers, I would ask for a refund!:sleep:

I'm not sure what the Raceland technical was for as it wasn't an "obvious" call, but the Russell technical was on Blair, who was called for a foul, and then clapped his hands and said "LETS GO DEFENSE", the referree thought he heard a cuss word, but he must have been using the "old rambler" brand hearing aid as there wasn't one said, that was one technical that should not have been called, the foul yes, the technical no. There were a lot of people on the Russell side

"hoping" that the Raceland kid missed all 4 free throws as that sequence could have brought Raceland within 3 points if they made all their free throws

and hit a three on the in bounds play. Both teams played hard tonight and it was good to see Scott Gill back for Russell. He was needed, he may have had the best dunk of the year tonight:thumb:

Well I not sure where to start on this one.

 

1st they have not been announcing Russell games for 20 years. 2 years is more like it.

 

2nd I gaurentee you that one of those announcers is more loyal to the Russell players than Dicky is for his team. For a lot better reason than a paycheck.

 

3rd They are not professional announcers. One of them is a clearchannel employee but the other one I believe does this on a voluntary basis.

 

 

I still EXPECT professionalism whether the announcer is trained in that capacity or not. They are still adults and should refrain from the derogatory comments they make as if they are casual fans in the stands. It is not just Russell fans listening to those broadcasts, and if for no other reason, the comments should reflect positively on the school system they represent, not just the team they are rooting for.

 

On another note, one Raceland Lady Ram held the door open for Jon Vanhoose as he exited the gym after the game on crutches. She said he was a great guy, a great player and she wishes him only the best results after his dr's. visit tomorrow.

 

Not to thread jack, but at halftime last night during the GC/LC game, a LC player was on the floor with an injury. Does anyone have a report/update on his condition?

Anybody got the stats from the game. It sounded like freethrow shooting was a problem for Russell again. I was pretty sure I heard four in a row missed while Raceland was fouling at the end. This is the most frustrating thing about this team to me.

I did hear coach Dodd talking about Russell's free throw shooting woes, didn't have any stats but they did miss some down tn stretch.

Blair is NOT a mouthy kid. I find it hard to believe that he said anything out of line to an official.

 

I'm not saying it didn't happen. It would be out of character though.

the story I heard was that Blair was taunting a Raceland player in front of the Ram Student section and the Raceland student section went crazy. That is when the T was called. ofcourse that is second hand but from a reliable source.

 

It was a tough rivalry game and a close one at that. Congrats on the win and good luck Thursday night, Devils! But don't take Lewis County lightly. It was a very physical game last night against GC.
