To start the discussion, if Beechwood beats Covington Catholic I assume they will finish #1 in RPI and it will not even be close. Is that correct? And if Beechwood loses to CCH (and wins out) where will they finish in RPI? @Voice of Reason

This is just guessing but based on this, will LCA/Danville travel to Mayfield and OCath to Somerset for the 3rd round? Will Danville have to play LCA in the 2nd round?

Looking at some other top 2A teams:

Owensboro Catholic - It looks like they will win out.
Mayfield - It looks like they will win out.
Somerset - I am thinking one more loss, probably Christian County.
Danville - LCA will be a loss and WEB Dubois a tough game.
Belfry - If they beat Pikeville this week they will go undefeated.
Lexington Christian Academy - LexCath this week could be a third loss but the Eagles will win out after this week.

If Everyone wins out it will look like this:

If Beechwood, Belfry, Danville lose and go 9-1 and everyone else wins out.

Its still a 3 man maybe 4 man race in 2A.

Knowing Beechwood has a larger district of play to contend with vs. the other 2 or 3 2A contenders at the top it doesn't seem to come into Beechwood's favor. Hopefully some of those teams Beechwood has faced or will face win a few games.

Regardless, it would be better for the semifinals to be played on a nice neutral site for both teams of play.

Agreed.

If they still split the semifinals east/west I'd be ok with RPI determining home field but it's wrong to expect teams to make a 7-8 hour drive to play a Friday night game.

Where do you put Somerset? I feel like they are right there in that group after Beechwood. Might be slightly behind LCA and OC but not too far.
