  • The 12th Region Tournament field is set after tonight: Danville Christian, Boyle Co., West Jessamine, East Jessamine, Somerset, Rockcastle Co., Somerset Christian and Southwestern.

  • I’d like to see a breakdown of what happened in that game.  It was a pretty low scoring affair. When discussing the coaching we shouldn’t focus on Wayne County and dismiss Al Gover’s performance

  • Lincoln/DCA and Boyle/Garrard should make for a fun night of basketball.

Big win for the Cougars!  Dangerous team with capable starting 5.  I believe Southwestern will overwhelm them with size though.

Big win for the Rock!  Big time matchup with Somerset Thursday night in Liberty!

12 over 1. Insane.

There was a time in December I would have been sold on SCS over Wayne. But for the last month SCS had been playing several notches down from where they were earlier in the year and Wayne was the hottest team in the region. What a program defining win for a team still relatively new to the KHSAA. And what a tough way for such a great year for the Cardinals to end.

A great night!

Hearing Jack Baker played with a banged up foot too.  Which, makes the win even more impressive for SCS.

Rodney Woods doesn't loose that game!

Shocked to see Wayne go down.  Wayne went into the tournament at 6-0 in the district and SCS was 1-5.

WOW!!!

Between January 13th and last night, Somerset Christian had only defeated Bluegrass United, Cornerstone Christian, and Highlands Latin. What a resurgence last night was. Earlier in the year they had beaten McCreary, Danville, Muhlenberg, and Garrard County.

Woods was 3-3 in his last six district tournament games and lost each of his last six region tournament games. So maybe he doesn't lose that game, but maybe he does.

First time since 1987 that neither team is in the 12th Region tournament.

When discussing the coaching we shouldn’t focus on Wayne County and dismiss Al Gover’s performance as SCS’s coach (not that you are…..).  He’s been in it a long time as both a player and coach.  He knows what he’s doing.

Coach Fraley has never missed the region tournament since taking over at Pulaski Co.  Credit to Rock, they played like the seasoned team and made the plays down the stretch.  Outside of Carson Fraley, PC is a very young team and it showed in the 2nd half.

Slow paced.  SCS did a good job defending Phillips and Farmer.  Phillips, if you no catch him is one dimensional player as a shooter.  What surprised me, was Wayne didn't extend the floor and create some tempo change.  SCS doesn't have great ball handling collectively, but if you let them get into their set actions they can hurt you.  Also, Harvey did a great job on the interior against Farmer.

Taylor Gover, Al's nephew has really provided a presence on the bench this year assisting.  Taylor was a great HS player at Pulaski Co.  and had a good college career at The University of the Cumberlands.
