Lewis Co. climbing up the polls as it gets closer to tournament time. Not a better coach in the game at this point in the season than Joe Hampton.

Hard to put Boyd in front of East. East has beat them twice this season, the second time by a pretty wide margin. I believe that 5-8 is pretty even and almost interchangeable though.

You make agood point there. I had not realized that. Really imo you could take anyone below the top three and on any given night they could beat anyone.

I have to agree, any of these teams could be the winner of the tournament next month. My darkhorse is Boyd County, they have a force in the middle with Selby and have beat Ashland and Russell if I am correct and if they can get past Rose Hill in the first round of the districts could be a team that nobody wants to play in the regional tourney.

I keep reading that this is the year that the Region is totally up for grabs. Popular opinion is that the top 3 spots are interchangeable with Russell, Elliott, and Ashland. While this may very well be true, it strikes me that this is the year that there has been one dominant team more so than the any of the last 5 years. Russell has completed dominated the Region from start to finish with a 16-1 Regional record (?). The beat Elliott at their place (up by 20 or so early on) as well as Ashland (up by 17 or so early on). In fact, they haven't had many close games in the Region as they have led most by double figures before they start to slow things down. IMO, Cubster's been right all year keeping Russell at the top and they've been dominant enough up to this point in the season to be a clear, undisputed #1.

Bottom line Russell beat Elliott early in the year on a last second shot. They are very evenly matched. Rankings by Cubster are accurate as usual. You have the top three, Russell, Elliott County and Ashland, and then you have a group of Boyd, Rose Hill, Rowan, East Carter and Greenup, and then you have everybody else.

You left out the part where Elliott was up on Russell by 9!! Now about the region domination fir the last five years(excluding this season) Morgan Co. would have to be the pick. I'm 98% sure they had a season in the last 5 that they didnt have no 16th region losses and only 2 out of region! Dont get me wrong R.R. russell has dominated the region this year and is a heavy favorite, but thats a target I'm glad my team dont have come tourney time!!!!!

To be honest, I have never watched a baseball game all the way through.

But I would just as soon play Russell as anyone in the 16th. Raceland beat us by a wider margin than anyone in the 16th so far.

I don't know anything about a Texas Death Match, but I know that sportsfan

was exiled from the Sabine Parrish(parrish is same as a county) in Louisiana.

He "De-activated" three civillian's at the same time in less than a minute. He then "motivated quickly" to Texas, where he caught somewhere in the neighborhood of 60 largemouth bass in the 4-5 lb range. Don't know if that has anything to do with Texas Death Match, but he must be pretty versatile!:thumb: :scared:

The first round of the District Tourney between Russell & Greenup two years ago was dubbed "The Texas Death Match" by Frances. She was well aware how much Russell wanted to draw Greenup in the first round for a One & Done.

 

This was due to Coach Hicks calling a time out with three seconds to go in a game that was well in hand against Russell during the season. The ONLY reason for the time out was to celebrate with the fans and rub it in.

 

Anyway, as for the Cubster's poll, the top three mirror my pre-season picks.:thumb:
