I’m not sure this one is about getting more elsewhere as much as it is he was told he’s not going to be the guy…

That seemed obvious in the press conference and Stein’s interview on KSR. Boley has been fine but if he wasn’t from Kentucky I doubt people would even notice. In the world of the transfer portal, no n

I think these two posts go hand in hand. Yes, he will get more elsewhere because elsewhere wants him and UK doesn't.

I'd say  Boley has potential and that's about it. Doesn't seem like he has that strong of a arm. He can get better but will he?

At a place where he won't be getting the crap kicked out of him? No doubt he will.

Current head coaches don't touch the UK job when it comes open (per the history or their hires, outside of Mumme, who was, but at D2 Valdosta State), so why should we expect players, at the most pivotal position in the game to do the same?

Current head coaches don’t touch the UK job, partly because UK rarely truly ever opens up its coaching search. After Brooks, they did coach in waiting on Joker. Which after Joker you are correct no head coach would have wanted that mess. Then this go around, Mitch already knew exactly who he wanted in Stein, and didn’t even really look at current head coaches. Which I know I have commented I don’t like the process of how UK hires as I do think they limit themselves. With that said I think Stein has done some great things since he got this job, and also has been considered one of the top 10 coaching hires in this cycle and is an offensive coach. So for a QB this would be more attractive than it was under Stoops, where qbs who came to UK came to fail.

As others have mentioned seems like Stein probably was honest with him about also wanting to bring one of his one guys in to compete. While Cutter probably has a chance to make more money and better chance to start elsewhere. So makes sense for why he would go to portal now.

Ugh, I don't like it.

Hopefully Coach Stein has some portal/recruiting magic in his DNA.

Taron Dickens is a name to keep an eye out for.

Hate to see a Kentucky guy leave, but if he wasn’t going to be the guy, I understand.

Probably tired of annually being named “UK’s QB of the future” and then having lesser talented transfers playing immediately without him given any game development time.  Late year performance proved he should have been #1 from the start of the season and those early games might of made a huge difference to that 5-7 record.

And maybe the portal is just being used to determine his market value?

He showed much more than just potential this season, and his arm strength is really good, sounds like you didn’t even watch him play this season?

Oregon's backup entered the portal today.

And there you go. Probably who Stein had in mind. Most likely someone he recruited.

As to Boley, UK averaged 7 points a game over the last 5 games with him at QB. His stats in the last two games against Vandy and UL are not good. If I am the new coach watching tape, those last two games make me doubt him as my QB.

This! Plus that Oregon QB that just entered the portal today. He barely missed winning the QB job this year over a guy that may be a top 5 NFL pick. Plus he will already know the system, so for Stein it makes sense. Plus honestly shows he was also at least honest with Cutter, rather than leading him on.

With money now speaking louder than words, hard to lead a guy on with limited resources.

Happy to see him leave UK! (he did great against UF) wondering if UK will go get Sam Levitt unless he's already decided on where he may go. Cutter is a dude, very good football player.
