I haven’t watched Beechwood at all this year -  know that last year’s team was tough as nails.  But after reviewing their schedule, OCath is their toughest opponent outside of CovCath.  OCath has a really good O-line,  I noticed CovCath ran for almost 500 yards, and yes there is no Cash-Money on OCath, so there is that.  I think the game has the potential to be closer than most think.  Edge is a tough back. I’m, still pulling for the ACES.  And I think they have a better shot than some think.

  • I was out tonight with hard core Beechwood parents who were at the game last night. They said that the best team won. Tough loss for the Tigers. Take state OC.  Best of luck to you!

  • I’m probably not a voice of reason on this, but I’m rolling with the ACES…I’m wrong 1% of the time though.  I did call Corbin over Highlands so there’s that.

  • LOL - Owensboro has always been Western KY (in our own eyes I guess!). It took me moving to Paducah to realize how FAR Western KY felt about it though.  I had a guy in Paducah tell me “we (Mcracken, C

Agree OCath will be Tigers’ 2nd toughest opponent this season.  But, shouldn’t it be that way this time of year?  I think BW’s defense will be superior to anything the pass heavy Aces have seen.  Going to be a good one.

I’m guessing Beechwood/Owensboro similar defenses - Owensboro held Carruthers to 17 of 29 with ZERO TD’s and 2 interceptions for 130 yards.  Beechwood is probably going to defend similar.  OCath has to run the ball well to have a chance, Beechwood too much speed on defense I agree - I remember last year!

Miles Edge will have to run the ball well. The OL for Catholic has been a staple for them this year.

On the defensive side of the ball I replayed the Somerset YouTube game. I have concerns of somerset drove the ball like they did.

Nonetheless, it’s at Steele Stadium which gives the Aces a chance.

Tigers roll on their way to State again.

I think Beechwood wins by 2-3 scores. OC will likely keep it close through the first half and I think Beechwood gets further ahead after halftime. Good luck to both teams.

Give me Beechwood steamrolling the Aces. That OCath QB has a cannon of an arm I’ll give him that but I don’t think he’s got the accuracy to be a big time threat in the passing game. And with the tigers secondary athleticism just one bad ball and it will cost you an offensive drive. They need to not turn the football over to even have a chance in this one. I just don’t think that’s what’s gonna play out and I got that QB throwing 2-3 INT’s beechwood capitalizes and walks into Steele Stadium and takes care of business.

This is a compliment and question.  BW regulars are a great 1st half team as rarely have the starters seen much 2nd half action since their CovCath loss….running clock after running clock.  Is it hard for the Coaching staff to get a team ready for 4 qtrs of battle when the regulars have only been there once this season and in that game they were boat-raced in the 4th?

I think Beechwood should be a slight favorite here. Home field advantage for the Aces make this a relatively even match up. I think they are about evenly matched offensively. I'd give the Tigers the advantage defensively although I think OBC's run game could have some success which could open up the passing game. If they can't be at least somewhat effective running the ball, B'wood will likely come out on top. You aren't going to beat the Tigers being one dimensional. I feel it'll be a fairly high scoring affair. I see it something like 35-28, either way.

The only team in 2a that will come within 2 TD’s of Beechwood is Belfry. Beechwood rolls in this one.

You may be right, but, I'd say LCA will be the favorite against Belfry and I'm not real sure it'll be that close.

I think this one is going to be a battle.

Beechwood and Owensboro Catholic have both earned their way back to this stage, but I’m still not convinced OC’s defense can slow down what Beechwood brings offensively. The Tigers are balanced, explosive, and probably the most complete unit the Aces have faced all year since their loss to OHS earlier this season. On the other side, Beechwood’s defense is physical, disciplined, and easily the toughest matchup OC’s offense will have seen this season outside of OHS, respectfully.

It’ll be a great environment and a fun rematch, but I think the Tigers make the key stops when it matters and keep OC chasing.

Another deep run for the Aces, but another year without the title, IMO.

I am trying to figure out how an Owensboro Catholic team that doesn't look as strong as last year’s team can close the gap on a Beechwood team that looks as good as last year’s team. Beechwood's defense has only allowed 87 points this entire season.

Does anyone think the 2025 Owensboro Catholic team is better than last year’s team?
