I would love to see who said that and the actual quote.

It was said on their local radio show, by the former QB, it’s wasn’t hard to find. Said it plain as day, it wasn’t made up.

  • I was out tonight with hard core Beechwood parents who were at the game last night. They said that the best team won. Tough loss for the Tigers. Take state OC.  Best of luck to you!

  • I’m probably not a voice of reason on this, but I’m rolling with the ACES…I’m wrong 1% of the time though.  I did call Corbin over Highlands so there’s that.

  • LOL - Owensboro has always been Western KY (in our own eyes I guess!). It took me moving to Paducah to realize how FAR Western KY felt about it though.  I had a guy in Paducah tell me “we (Mcracken, C

I never heard and can’t find it, sounds made up.

No Atwell said it last year. “Beechwood are just a bunch of athletes playing football.”

I remember this last year, I couldn't believe the Aces people would stoop so low as to compliment the speed and athleticism of Beechwood.

For the record, in this link is the actual audio from Atwell. You hear him talking at the start and then at the end of the about minute and a half video is the audio of Atwell. The actual quote is:

"You know, personally I don't think they're, you know, football players. I think they're a lot of really good athletes."

I am expecting a game similar in many ways to last year's title game matchup. Many of the key players on both sides are different. The emphasis on offense for each team has shifted.

Beechwood leans a little more to the pass this year than last. There were some questions about Beechwood's running game but the Tigers showed they are very capable in the running game against Prestonsburg. The rushing attack led the way for Beechwood in that game with 232 yards on the ground averaging 10 yards per carry.

Owensboro Catholic has added more running game this year from RB Miles Edge, and less running from their QB. Edge is over 1,000 yards on the ground. While Atwell rushed for over 600 yards last year, Carothers only has 111 yards rushing. This is a big factor in how the game plays out IMO. Beechwood has shut down rushing attacks just like they did last week against a great high school back, Kain Patton of Prestonsburg. The running QB has been more of a problem as Cash Harney showed in the Cov Cath game.

The key to the game for me is can Owensboro Catholic have success on offense. I think Beechwood will score. Owensboro Catholic will need to outscore Beechwood to win. I have a hard time seeing Owensboro Catholic putting up enough points to get the win.

Beechwood will probably put a running clock on them.

TP94 struggled at this point last year. We'll see how it goes this year.

Generally speaking I do not think there is enough separation in the ratings.  No matter how those four teams "rank" they are not all within 5 points of each other.

I like Beechwood in this game.  The Tigers look better to me.  In fact, LCA and Beechwood look like the best two teams to me.

Anyone hear of anything about a stream for this one?
