Excellent field, is that real grass....You did well on the photos Hardball.

That's just before semi state, so it was about 50/50 bermuda and rye at the time. It's usually nicer early in the spring when it's all rye; gives it a much deeper green.

 

I can't take credit for the pictures, unfortunately. Me and electronics just don't mix...

Yeah, I don't think Boyd's is in the best condition. Its a great field but not good enough to be considered one of the best in the state.

Boyd put in a new infield last year, and it wasnt really ready to play on. It should be really nice this year. I also hear they are putting in one of those monsterous score boards this year.

IF bracken Co. would actually take care of their field it would be nice, other than the short fences.

Alright, I just thought the infield was pretty rough last year. Plus when we were up there it hadn't been mowed for some reason it was really hairy. But the dugouts were nice.:thumb:

This field is a BEAUT! I'll like it even more if that is real grass, thats what baseball was ment to be played on, not turf.:mad:

I remember when we (Bishop Brossart) was getting ready to play Harrison Co. It was raining. We started "warming up" on the field. 10 seconds later we were ran off by the Harrison Co ground maintenence guys.

 

Their facilities are really nice!

Pulaski County's field is completely natural grass, as is Southwestern's and Somerset's.

 

I would venture to say that there are not three finer baseball diamonds in any one county in Ky.

I had heard that Somerset was planning on resurfacing their infield. They have very nice facilities, but it would be great if they smoothed out their playing surface a bit.

I would say that St. Henry's field is the nicest in NKY......

 

I will agree, in terms of natural grass fields, saint henry has to be one of the nicest fields around. The field surface is great and well groomed and the stands and commodities are some of the best ive seen around the state.

Those fences are rediculously short. Its what like 270 down the lines. I honestly felt like I was on a large softball field there.

I don't get to as many fields as I used to but Christian County has done a lot of work to their field, and it is nice. Madisonville's is one of the more historic ones in the state, although it's actually at a city park I believe. Corbin does have a nice field. I have seen a few in Louisville but that was a while back, and I haven't seen the new private school stadiums.

Most of the credit goes to Coach Ron Herrington who passed away in the off season. Coach Herrington always kept the Hilltop well groomed. For the amount of space they have the setting for baseball is awesome on the Hilltop. The actual playing surface has always been top notch. Many complain about the short fences, but they are the same distance for all teams. I hope that the Harrison County administration will move forward with naming the field and facility after Coach Whitaker and Coach Herrington.

Ill agree with Corbin.....Whitley also has a nicer field than most
