I must admit I was pleasantly surprised at how nice the henry Co. field was last year. It was the first time I had ever seen the field. I had only one complaint, it was an early season game, the field sits on top of the hill behind the school, the temperature was only about 40 degrees and the wind never stopped blowing. It was COLD!

Letcher County Central is building a state of the art field from what I hear. I've been told it will be something to behold when it's completed.

I think that Southwestern's field and facilities are right up there towards the top. I know that Coach Rodney McAninch personally takes care of the field maintaince, the infield is soley bermuda grass and the outfield is just KY 31 fescue. They have a fieldhouse with batting cages and a locker room. It's been awhile since I've been to Pulaski's field but I'm sure Coach Scott McAninch does the same for his field.

St. X is very fortunate to have a field that is playable when there has been so much rain. The playing surface has allowed much more practice on the field than other teams.

They are going to need the practice. That is by far the toughest high scholl schedule I have ver seen.

McCreary Central's is top of the line.

I can't argue this. And it's a shame that with all the schools in NKY, there isn't another field to compete with St. Henry's.

 

Actually the overall quality of fields in NKY is a travesty. There is not another first rate field in all of NKY besides St. Henry. There are a few that are decent, but really they palein comparison when you see the pictures and visit in person some of the other fields listed in this thread. Ryle should have one of the top fields around, but it is very poorly maintained :irked: and drops in quality with each passing year. (Here's a thought - remove some of the rusted out equipment and other garbage that surround the perimeter of the field. :madman:) It's apparent to me that Scott plans on making their field into something special, so a tip of the cap to them.

After getting to open up the college season this year at Trinity I will agree that it's really nice, It can take a ton of water and is a real pleasure to play in.

 

i think it is the nicest turf facility in the state, looks to me like Pulaski and saint Henry may have the 2 nicest true grass facilities.
