The Yellow Jackets haven't finished up their season this year, heading into a 2nd-round playoff game against Lex Cath this week, but the news of Coach Dantzler's ousting after a dust-up regarding the school's renowned band having penalty yardage assessed against the football team because they were playing during game action is still very much on the minds of folks around Central and state-wide football communities.

Offsensive Coordinator Lonnie Oldham is handling head coaching duties as interim coach of the Jackets for the remainder of the season. Oldham has been head coach at the likes of Carroll County (2022-2023), Jeffersonville, IN (2011-2014), Oldham County (2005-2007), Western Hills, OH (2004), and Seneca (1999-2003). Will he get the nod at Central, or will Central look to once again cast a wide net in the interview process and see what else they can pull in?

It has been very quiet…

Are they close to making a hire?

They were interviewing yesterday for the HFC position. I am not sure who has interviewed or will. Good Luck.

Is the band director on the hiring committee?

Pure GOLD with this comment!!!

I wonder if Mike Jackson (currently HC at DeSales) or Tommy Williams (currently Asst Coach at Trinity) might have an interest here?

Both have experience as HC’s for JCPS schools. Jackson at Ballard and Williams at PRP.

Do they still have the talent they had when Coach Scroggins was there?

Have heard they are going to interview current HC at Seneca, Kenny Davidson, for their vacant HC spot. Davidson was formerly an assistant at South Warren and is a very good coach who relates well with the kids. I think he'd kill it at Central.

On another note, I believe Central is in the process of vetting numerous coaches. It will be interesting to see who they lock in.

What about Mekale McKay?  Is he one of the finalist?

I was wondering that based on McKay's post on X this morning...although there are a lot of head coach openings around Louisville (in addition to a handful of them over across the river in Indiana.)

Based on my conversation with him at the state finals, I do believe Lonnie Oldham was given an interview as well.

Seeing on Facebook Mekale McKay got this one.

If you scroll his feed, he post that same "Blessings" tweet every single day, it's just his thing. But... he did get the job it seems.
