  • I think I could outmaneuver the Bengals’ “tacklers”. And I fall down a lot.

The Bengals defense is horrendous.  They can't stop anyone.  I think all of us on this forum could probably put up 30+ on this squad.

  • 12 defensive players have been drafted in the last 3 drafts for the Bengals. It’s a drafting and developmental problem.

You could've broken that last..ummm..tackle

Few things...

1) It is hard to look at this as a devastating loss when it was a comedy of Bears' errors that made it possible for Cincinnati to take the lead. That would have been devastating had they lost.

2) On the Flacco Hail Mary, did he hit a pigeon or something? I get he doesn't have the arm strength to reach the endzone, but there have to be 40 guys on the roster that could get the ball as far as he threw it. Sheesh.

I'm pretty sure if you watch the replay closely enough that his arm got hit on the throw.

I just do not understand Battle’s effort (or lack of) in bringing down Loveland, not to mention the complete whiff by a second DB right there.  The whole end just stunk up the joint.

I have read a few different versions of this but in short, it wasn't a kicking ball.  From Bengals4life on Facebook:

This actually explains a lot. ?
Special teams coach Darrin Simmons said Evan McPherson’s short 54-yard kick came off a QB ball, not a K-ball — because the field goal unit had to rush out after the play clock started.
That’s wild… The “K-ball” is slick, prepped, and meant for kicking. The QB ball? It’s heavier, broken in, and not meant to fly like that.
So basically — McPherson tried to hit a 54-yarder with the wrong ball under the gun.
Stop blaming Money Mac — that man was set up with a bowling ball. ???

I was reading about ball prep and how it is adding yards to kicks. So this is all sanctioned. Meanwhile not too long ago the Patriots and Tom Brady got plowed over by the NFL steamroller for this.

@futurecoach I have been waiting to hear your thoughts?

Embarrassing. The front office needs to realize the window has closed with this group, and they also need to realize they did a horrible job at drafting and putting this defense together. They need to not be bullish on these picks, and accept they got it wrong. This thing needs to be torn down, in order to build it back up.

I know I said it a few weeks ago, I would have loved to see the Bengals be both buyers and sellers going into this trade deadline. I would have looked into trading Hendrickson, Wilson, CTB, Stone, Orlando Brown, and Karras. As teams always are looking for offensive line help and probably could maybe get a 4th or 5th rounder for Brown or Karras. You save some money and get some picks in return that way. However, I also would have tried to trade for guys that would help for the future. I would have definitely have given up a 3rd rounder for Phillips that the Dolphins just traded away. I would call the Giants about Kevion Theobodore (Sp.) The Bengals need to own the fact, that they don't draft well. Go trade for for some young DL that have had some success.

I would definitely move on from Taylor and the whole staff this off season. I think Burrow and the team needs a new voice, a tougher more demanding voice. If they are not going to add to the scout department, then need to make sure the coaching staff is better at evaluating talent than the current coaching staff seems to be. Then let the new coach decide if they want to keep Tee Higgins, or trade him too for picks and use that money to add elsewhere.

That kicking ball rule change only went in effect this year. So before this year, the ball McPherson kicked, was the same game ball he always had to kick before and he never had trouble with distance. So I do think it was still a mishit on his part, as kicking ball or not. He hasn't had trouble with distance like that before.

Bengals appear very proud of doing a very poor job of scouting personnel with far less people than any other NFL team.  Might be a new definition of insanity.

Even the Bengals are not that bad at drafting. Fire Al Golden. He is responsible for this.

The "good news" for Bengals fans, Zac is sticking with Golden which means Taylor will be gone at the end of the season.
