Even the Bengals are not that bad at drafting. Fire Al Golden. He is responsible for this.

The "good news" for Bengals fans, Zac is sticking with Golden which means Taylor will be gone at the end of the season.

I think it is the Bengals are just that bad at drafting. As the defense was horrible last year too with Lou, and is why they made the change. They needed a scapegoat, because they believed in the players they had. Which is why they didn't really make any changes with players, and really only changed the DC. We definitely see now the players are just that bad, and is why even Lou didn't do a good job last year with the defense either.

Don't me wrong, Golden hasn't been good either. As he has made some very questionable decisions on his scheme.

  • I think I could outmaneuver the Bengals’ “tacklers”. And I fall down a lot.

The Bengals defense is horrendous.  They can't stop anyone.  I think all of us on this forum could probably put up 30+ on this squad.

  • 12 defensive players have been drafted in the last 3 drafts for the Bengals. It’s a drafting and developmental problem.

Didn’t change players? Our starting and backup linebackers weren't here last year. Slaton and Stewart are new.

Stewart hasn't played much this year, and doesn't start. You are correct on Slaton. However, up until they benched Logan Wilson, the starters were essentially the same as last year still except for Slaton and a rookie linebacker instead of Pratt.   So they were bad last year with veteran linebackers, and an experienced DC and everyone knowing his scheme and still suck this year now with rookie linebackers after benching Wilson.  They have the exact same issues, zero pass rush, horrible run defense. The lone bright spot has DJ Turner has turned into a possible #1 CB type. It would have been one thing if they were good under Lou last year, but they were horrible last year too and why they missed the playoffs.  That is why I put this more on the front office and how they draft and in general how they put this defense together.

The biggest issue is the D line IMO. As they have spent multiple first round picks, and mid round picks on the D line over the last few years, and essentially have gotten no production from any of them last year of this year. Which makes it hard for any DC if you get no penetration in the run game, and zero pass rush too.

The Bengals no doubt got it wrong getting rid of Lou. However, basically the exact same issues as last year is still here. Which until Wilson got benched, starter wise was very similar to last year.
