For the 5th straight season two of the better football programs in the state square off in the final game of the regular season. The Boyle County Rebels (8-1) "Who You With" makes the trip to "The Farm" to take on the Frederick Douglass Broncos (6-3). The Rebels have won 3 of 4 of the games so far. Boyle won the first meeting in 2021 at Douglass 34-7. Douglass returned the favor the next year in 2022 beating Boyle 37-6 at Boyle. The Rebels have won the last 2 games 28-7 and 38-17.

Both teams come into this one riding 6 game winning streaks the Rebels last loss was to Lexington Catholic on Sept. 5. The Broncos last loss was also on Sept. 5 to Manuel. The Broncos started the season with 3 straight losses to Highlands, Trinity, and Manuel. This could be the closest game so far in the series. They have a common opponent in Highlands. The Broncos opened the season at Park Hills and lost a tough one in double OT 21-20. The Rebels also played Highlands at Danville just 3 weeks later and believe it or not the Rebels defeated the Bluebirds by the exact same score of 21-20.

This has the makings of a great game! I hope neither team has any injuries after this one as both look to make a deep run in the post season. If you can't get out to "The Farm" to watch this one in person it will be on NFHS Network (with membership) it will also be on Gilcod Sports for free. Good luck to both teams!

Kudos to both teams for keeping this game on the final Friday alive!  Two very good programs who are not afraid of competition, especially with the playoffs starting the next week.

I am sorry I put that instead Fort Thomas it was not intentional.

Don’t worry the only ones up here that care are the CovCath folks!!! I have Boyle by 10.

I think Boyle’s Defense will make Douglas’s offense look very weak. Douglas will be run heavy and I don’t think that’s a good idea against this Boyle defense.

Not so fast…..Dickman’s Mafia may not take that token apology as sufficient. May require some retribution like a round for the house.

If Frederick Douglass can't throw it this game might be a blow out in Boyle's favor. I don't see Douglass being able to run the ball on Boyle. Give me Boyle 35-14.

This one is all about the trenches. FD OL has GOT to control the Boyle attack. I imagine the OC is going to be vanilla, expecting the line to allow for 3-4 yard gains.

I agree, if the passing game doesn't develop early, it will be tough sledding. 3 and outs can't happen. The Bronco defense will be tough, but if the offense can't move the ball... Well.

I am a Run-The-Ball enthusiast, but the OC has got to have a playoff mentality in this game, if we can't outscore Boyle, it will be hard to imagine winning after the 3rd playoff game.

Give me the Broncos by a TD at home on Senior Night, 28-21.

I've watched both teams in person, I believe Boyle will win this by 3 scores or so. Boyle has too much talent in the trenches. Boyle's defense looks better than last year... I'm thinking close for 3 quarters with Boyle pulling away in the 4th.

Not arguing but why would the OC keep things Vanilla?  Playoffs start next week.  Nothing to hide at this point is there?
