CCH special teams have been consistently poor for a lotta seasons now. Our bad longsnaps gave Cathedral 40+ yds better field position on a punt and left a point after on the field. Our kick return hands squad gave Cathedral their opportunity to tie or score on the last possession.

Why are pitiful special teams such a major hallmark quality of EE's football teams? Do he and his staff really not care that much about special teams? Is it that hard to put together a passable special teams unit? Feels like it's such a non-issue for every single other team we play and such a major issue for us game after game and season after season.

Botched field goals can't happen in the post season. 

I really appreciate this. Cathedral needed to head out pretty early this afternoon to make sure they beat any early rush hour traffic coming through Cincinnati, so they didn't have the opportunity to hold their traditional gameday mass at home before they hit the road.

The Irish ended up borrowing St. Agnes Church just a few hundred yards down Dixie Highway from Cov Cath to hold mass instead.

Moving forward in time Covington Catholic should have no issues the rest of the season with the remaining opponents. 

Playoffs and RPI will be interesting. 

- This is a really nice win, even if the QB got knocked out. Cathedral has well coached older team that has definitely been in the weight room. 

- I thought the DC from Cathedral was very good and gave Cov Cath fits with pressure packages.  

- Funny enough special teams was not good, but their good kicker missed a couple kicks and we got an extra 2 point conversion since they jumped on the PAT. 

-Cov Cath should running clock the next 3 opponents plus a bye week before the gauntlet starts vs Johnson Central. Hopefully some time to get healthy. 
 

The pregame poll was 39-18 in Cathedral's favor for this one.

For as good as Cathedral’s defense was (multiple fronts, shifting out of looks right before the snap, and the occasional defensive back blitz), the offense seemed pretty vanilla. Kept waiting for adjustments that didn’t seem to be made until late in the fourth.
