That was an outstanding high school football game. Kudos to both teams for being well prepared and playing with 100% effort on each snap. Congrats to the Birds on pulling out the win. That was a lot m

Is that the game winning catch?

I am not sure.  The way it was phrased it was ambiguous (to me) and with nothing in the background it just doesn't look like it could have been.

It felt like every time Highlands needed a play, they made it that leads to a TD: Rio’s 3rd and 17 Qb draw where he shook the linebacker, Lorenzen throwing the ball away to avoid a sack which would have made it 4th and 10. They convert on 4th and 5 and leads to a TD. The last play for a score. Those guys played hard.

While Cov Cath was very explosive, they weren’t as consistent on drives where they could have pulled ahead and taken control throughout the game.

Almost a pee wee "pop" pass special. Love it. Couldn't have asked for a better game.

First off, what a game & congrats to the Bluebirds. Hats off to CovCath on the almost comeback - they’ll be a tough team remainder of the season.

With that being said, am I crazy to think Highlands should’ve won this by 20+? They dominated special teams, contained CCH for the most part and only gave up a couple big plays which are easily correctable, and their redzone offense was horrendous. Have to find another play call than running a QB slam up the gut when they’re packing the box. Can’t wait to see how they match up with Elder next week!

Not even close when they had to go the length of the field in 40 seconds to get the come from behind win?

Four point win over Ryle and it's not even close?

Hmmmm.......

So who is better than them in NKY? They beat Ryle, CovCath and Cooper. I get the “it’s not close angle” but they’ve lost one game and it was by one point to Boyle who handled St X tonight.

Highlands gets all the flowers. They fed Lorenzen the ball all night and came for the jugular with the final touchdown pass. That nailed shut the coffin. A much deserving win, albeit frustration from my end.

Covington Catholic cannot make bone head mistakes. The penalty that set Highlands up for their killer field position cannot happen out of bounds.  You cannot allow that final pass to happen. They knew that ball was going to Lorenzen. How could it not after the game he had?

The positive: a moral victory. They will learn from their mistakes. It's hard to beat a good team twice, let alone your arch rival.

I hope there is a round 2. Game 2, if it happens, will be at Highlands, correct?

When did Highlands get rid of their touchdown "theme music?" I presume the cannon is the replacement. I know the cannon predates the theme music.

Lorenzen is a beast. That's all I have to say. Much respect.

How does Highlands fare next week at The Pit?

I'm only talking about the "it's not close" comment. Maybe the comment was meant to say no one can dispute they are #1 in N. Ky. If that is what you and he are saying, I agree. Highlands is the clear #1 but that doesn't mean they can't be beaten as the CCH and Ryle games show.

Looks like an awesome catch.

Yes, great catch but not a personal foul.

I guess that’s what I’m asking. Is that the play they had a personal foul? That clip looked like nothing. I’d like to see the entire play.

Watching it live, I didn't question the penalty. Watching the clip, borderline call at best.

Regardless, that play didn't decide the game. It was still a catch and first down. Highlands got 15 yards closer to scoring due to the penalty.
