Is it possible for the state championship game to be Highlands vs Cov Cath?

Yes. Based on current RPI and expected playoff results, Cov Cath will need to win all these games on the road to get to the title game:

Round 2 = at Johnson Central

Round 3 = at Boyle County

Round 4 = at the top seeded team from the west, likely either Franklin County or Paducah Tilghman

However, we still have 4 weeks left and some tough games ahead for these teams so this is all likely to change.

That was an outstanding high school football game. Kudos to both teams for being well prepared and playing with 100% effort on each snap. Congrats to the Birds on pulling out the win. That was a lot m

Anything can happen in the playoffs.

Obviously the kid learned from the debacle at Boyle County.

Squirrel finds a nut every once in awhile! Last night helped by Rio having arguably his best game of his football career. But finally realizing Rio's strengths and weaknesses and putting him in the position to make plays, that makes any OC look good. Wonder what Rio's longest throw was last night? I'm guessing not much more than 20 yards. Last night worked! Now let's see them continue and not go back to old habits!

Beat Elder!

I think I predicted this one 30-27 Highlands. My type of game. ?

And I think I did say 2 quarterbacks can be better than one pretty recently.

Really exciting to watch and enjoy two really good programs go at it!  Lot of time left to this season and many things can still happen; just praying that the kids stay healthy and injury free.  One of the key plays of this game that seems to have missed comment in light of all the hoopla surrounding the game winner was the one completion that Tayden threw to Gabe Williams that set up a Highlands score.  Watching that play come from 22 reminded me so much of watching his Dad.  RIP Jared.

Grounding in High School really needs some tweaking. Had to watch the replay because I couldn’t make it Friday but noticed it could of been called twice on Harney. Even the 859 Sports guys made mention it needs to change. Looks like it was an incredible atmosphere.

Isn’t the high school grounding rule now the same as college and pro?

Not sure if it is. Like Defensive P.I. isn't a Automatic 1st down in High School. Only 15 yards. I’m am not here claiming to be a rules analyst. Just pointing out what I presume was grounding and also what others also saw. The same thing about the Bang-Bang personal foul at the End. The 859 guys said that's a penalty all day long. Just their opinion like many others. I think it was the right call. Anytime there is Helmet to Helmet contact on a “Bang-Bang” play, its getting called whether its intentional or not and I am confident the CCH player didn’t mean to go there. At the end of the day it was a very good game and one that will be remembered for a very long time.

I am 99% sure grounding in high school is just like college and pro. If the QB is out of the pocket, they can throw the ball away and no need for the pass to be any where near a receiver. It just has to be beyond the line of scrimmage. QB can throw it 15 yards out of bounds and it isn't grounding.

Just heard the interpretation the NKY coaches get that as long as the Ball makes it back to the line of scrimmage no receiver is needed. But what is really weird is that if the QB throws is out 5 yards short and the officials feel the path of the football makes it it back to the original LOS whether its goes up in the stands, it’s considered legal. Just wild with that ruling. Anyone heard this? People that I know that are coaches are telling me this. Because it must be true because both situations Friday, Harney’s throws would of indeed made it back  to LOS once it reached the side street behind Highlands stadium. ? Its actually the dumbest thing I have ever heard. Its a weak bailout for the QB.

Talk to the NFL and college. Same rule. They changed the rule in high school to match them 3 or 4 years ago.

I agree the new rule leaves alot to the officials discretion. I’d say at the high school level they’ll side with the QB unless it’s blatantly obvious.
