I think this game could be close early, but I think Trinity pulls away in the second half. 35-14 Rocks.

First of all for St. X is they need to quit turning the ball over. They got away with it against teams they were much better than but it bit them in the rear against Elder and you can't beat a team li

Throw that stuff out in this game !

A few thoughts:

I have to say that Trinity looks much more focused on the mission at this point in the season than in any other under the current staff. They seem very mature and no issue is too big to take on. Tommy Williams has made a major impact on Johnson and the offense and it just seems incomprehensible that he was ousted from PRP. OC Jake Williams has really opened up the play calling and the duo of JB and Taylor are both legitimate home run threats at running back. The WR's have cut down on the drops and are making terrific catches at opportune times in the games. The offensive line with Giacomini has waded through the issue with Shields and held up well against some really good D-Lines from Carmel and Moeller. This defense is terrific. The ability for Coach Fox to go with 5 DB's and occasionally 6 tells you how good the front is. Blue is an absolute terror at DE and combined with Carney, Frost and Thompson they may be the best group Trinity has ever fielded. Luke Vize has become a tackling machine and KeAnthony Calloway is emerging as a very talented linebacker in coverage and stopping the run. The secondary is very fast and very physical and has caused fits for some really good QB's early. If they can curb the penalties and the occasional bust, teams simply will not be able to cross midfield. Kehdy and Hilbert have been solid in the kicking game and continue to leverage teams in their own territory regularly. This is a team that has the capability to dominate the rest of their schedule.

All of that being said, the Tigers certainly have the ability to disrupt those plans. Trimble is a much more effective runner at QB than we have seen since the Springfield scrimmage and he almost brought them back against Elder. His accuracy is alarming (76.1%) especially against zone coverage to Harbin and Shelton. Harbin is Harbin. We've known all about him for a very long time now and he is very impressive all over the field, including on defense and special teams. This defense is very strong, especially at LB with Pinkston, Bentz and Busch. They have some speed in the secondary as well and can cover out of their 2-high shell. The DLine is very capable and Korey Tutt is an emerging prospect at End.

This game will be extremely emotional, whether the staffs like it or not. The Wallace news in the preseason added another layer to the drama and the extracurriculars during and at the end of last year's game adds even more to this rivalry. Trinity has a significant advantage on both sides of the line in my opinion but needs to continue to play physical and FAST, win the turnover battle like they have all year, and keep the rhetoric to a minimum so that St. X doesn't feed from that. Harbin and Trimble are seemingly built to be be the perfect foil to those plans. Cobb and Wallace should have a tremendous chess match for us planned, either way! ☘️

Strong analysis here. Keep in mind a couple of things:

1. Coach Cobb and his staff have a PROVEN track record for bringing their team along for continued improvement and peaking in the post season, regardless of any particular win or loss in the regular season.

2. Having followed this rivalry across multiple sports for the last 30 years, I can say with confidence that one never truly can predict the outcome of any one game between these schools, regardless of which team might be “favored”.

3. I am glad the schools continue to CHOOSE NOT to live stream this game. Fans of high school football, St. X, Trinity, or any other school, should do themselves a favor and attend this game in person, at least once. And get there for the pregame, halftime and post game activities as well, regardless of the winner.

I think if they were to live stream it, they would have to charge for it. The L&N Stadium isn't cheap to rent so need to have sales to cover cost which it does but free streaming could cut attendance. I think they have to sell around 10,000 tickets to break even.

I am sure neither school is interested in “breaking even” from this game. The gate proceeds from this game (shared between the schools) are an important piece of the operating budget for each school.

Great analysis RN!

But the two items above stood out to me.

I sincerely feel bad for the kids at PRP who are paying the price for pushing Coach Williams out the door and seeking a completely over-zealous schedule.

And second, those are BIG words!

It should be a great game!  Good luck to both teams and no injuries!

Line of scrimmage... like many big games the team that wins the line of scrimmage will have the best chance of winning the game. On paper the advantage goes to Trinity, but games are not played on paper. I see a close game similar to last year, but not sure yet on who will leave L&N Stadium with the shillelagh.

That is a scary thing to hear knowing 3 of them will be returning next year. I'm sure their DL coach and his 2020 squad may have something to say about that statement though!

Been involved in this rivalry my whole life and this is not lost on me! 0-4 teams have beaten 4-0 teams and the smaller methodical teams have beaten the bigger faster teams. Best part of what makes this rivalry, for sure

Saw that group, this group, 2011 and 1997 all up close and I have never seen teams struggle so bad to keep them in front. Each team had different linebackers and secondaries that added to the pressure, but never has one of our groups had 4 Division-1 offers at the same time. 2011 was close with Tyler Sweeden (UTEP), Jason Hatcher (Kentucky, first team All-State), Adam Barry (first team All-State) and Jabari Jordan (played at WKU).
