Normally when you are behind you have to work harder.  Let's just say I was extremely impressed with OC.

But OCath doubled them in yards.  Better offense - OCath, Better defense - OCath, Better special teams - BG…BG was set up a time or 2 and couldn’t get anything done.  Again I was still shocked but I can’t remember a BG team in the past 15 years that I think OCath could beat.

No offense to OCath but I hate BG schedul;in them - it’s a no win situation.  You’re expected to pounce them….when you don’t nerves start coming into play.

I think ranking 5A at this point is somewhat silly. 

I would put them like this:

Class 5A

1. Cooper - Best QB in 5A has got to count for something
2. Owensboro - Much like BG, there are some obvious warts. They have a lot of upside and a favorable schedule after Week 2 to really climb in the RPI. I'm gonna predict they beat Catholic.  
3. Bowling Green - Banged up and have some issues to iron out. I wouldn't want to play them as any of the other 5A teams come November if BG is healthy
4. Scott Co. - They have yet to prove that they are ever going to really recover from Great Crossing. 
5. Atherton - Kings of the bad schedule. I know they have some dudes, but I'm not buying it. They'll get their chance against Manual. 
6. Woodford - Same as Atherton... but without a Manual on their schedule. 
7. Pulaski - Unknown, may be the sleeper 
8. South Oldham - The "Oldham's" have never fared well in rounds three and four against the establishment 
9. MNH - Best RB in 5A, maybe. 

BG #1?      Nah, they just got beat by the 4th ranked team in 2A.

If BG keeps it close with St. X, OC has a big case for #1 or #2 (behind beechwood) in 2A. I don’t think they’re down much from last year. Their QB might be just as productive this year as Atwell was in previous years. Plus they have the speed and play makers to get it done.

Cooper could very well be 1-4 after their week 5 game. They have Highlands this week, then Ryle, then Campbell county, and then Dupont Manual. 

As talented as they are, they are playing a lot more guys both ways this year vs the last 2 and the second half is where Anderson made them pay. 

I think BG is ranked more on reputation, than actuality. BG lost a ton last year in the field general, let alone the lost in other key positions. I am a guy that says we need to wait until at least week 5 to begin to rank teams, by that time we should know, who has a legit shot, and who is just dressed up but nowhere to go. 

Don't sleep on Atherton.  Their defense is the real deal.
