Oh boy! ?

It’s was an underwhelming showing from the top of the class in the debut of the 2025 season but I’m not upset about these rankings. It’s early, tough to tell, Atherton praise has been interesting. The Maroons win over the State runners up in 3A last season was nice but who knows what the Braves will be this year they lost a lot. Scott County against the Purples next week!

Atherton may have the best defense in 5A and that can carry you far.

Hate it, but… Bowling Green is looking at 0-4 right in the face. Hoping for a different outcome, but it’s tough sledding over here. I don’t know that #1 is warranted right now.

Same here. They usually sort themselves out as the season goes along but those top three losing last weekend was certainly surprising. In the past you would have had a team like South Warren or Highlands waiting to pounce on that top spot after last week's games.

I love the Purples and feel that's obvious and will pull for them till the end, but

I don't feel they are #1 in 5A today.  Could they get there?  Yes.  Do I expect improvement?  Yes

But with where they are now and with St X, at Scott County and at South Warren coming up and at CAL not too much further down the road, I'm not sure how much improvement that will be in that span. 

Before I got to BGP, I was ALWAYS a YOU LOSE and YOU DROP guy.  BGP has made me see the light on perhaps adjusting that, but I honestly don't feel that here.  I feel the spot should be earned.  Not settled for.  Not mad at anyone as rankings are a thankless pursuit.

I just want my team to earn their spot.  They have in the past and I expect them to again this season even if it's after an 0-4 start.

That response begs the obvious question, who do you think should be number one and more specifically how should the top three look given all the teams in the BGP top three lost last week?

I would vote for this:

1. Pulaski County

2. BG

3. Scott County

4. Cooper

5. Atherton

6. Owensboro

It's a long year.  We now have info on THIS year's teams.  But as they say, everyone has an opinion.  And I'm ok with them falling down the list if they lose; as it's just that a list.  They have to continue to get better and compete better.  Felt OCath wanted it a little more on Saturday.  That has to change.

Gosh, I feel like OCath wanted it more too.  I was so surprised by that game and it was the highlight of my Saturday night. 

On 5A, it is going to be a bear to rank..

I think it had some to do with Travey Barber going out.  If your best player leaves the field that can effect a team and it did BG IMO.  I expect that to change.

I am not sure about the reason but the fire was burning bright for the Aces.
