Serious question because I think it’s this way in Basketball (not sure Football other than being a Sr. Award) - is he eligible for Mr. Football if he wasn’t District Player of the Year? Which is an absolute joke he wasn’t by the way.

First offensive play of game against WOFO - Hampton to the house with Rash homestand in background:

that's a really good question but I’m pretty sure you can.  Connor Hodge from CAL was one of 10 finalists last year & he didn’t win DPOY.  That honor went to Cortez Stone who was also a finalist.

Today Evan Hampton signed with Vanderbilt.  Hampton the #27 running back in the nation, #1 RB in KY according to ESPN and Rivals.   Hampton originally Committed to play baseball for UK after his freshman year.  Recruited for his baseball skills.  Ran a 4.42 at UK camp after his sophomore season and offers started piling in after a hugely successful campaign - which included torching South Warren for over 200 yards and 3 TD’s in the playoffs of 2023 and another 43 yards receiving.  53-22 blowout of favored south warren.

Offered by Michigan, NC state, UK, Louisville, North Carolina, Illinois, Virgiina Tech, West Virginia, Syracuse, Indiana, Stanford,  Minnesota, TCU,  Purdue, Boston  College, Arkansas, Duke, Cincinnati, Ohio, Buffalo, EKU, Penn State, Illinois State, East Tennessee State.

Vandy getting it done on signing day. Congrats, good move in my opinion.

Maybe been said here before, but Evan and twin Eli have strong NKy ties.  They are sons of SEC/ACC official Brent Hampton (sorry only know their Mother as why the family lives in Owensboro) and grandsons of Doug and Patsy Hampton of Cynthiana, Ky.  Lots of athletic genes as their uncle John is also an SEC referee.

Will he play RB or DB at Vandy?

Would have to be RB or WR as he has very few defensive plays in high school if any.

Didn’t know that!  Good info - seem like great young men all around.  and THANK GOD FOR THEIR MOTHER!!!

Signing day for Eli and Evan with family.  Dad I believe is in light blue quarter zip and I didn’t realize he was a NCAA official.  Again thankful Mom loves Owensboro!
