So you could pitch your best 2 pitchers if you keep winning all the way through?

Yes. This format (over 2 weeks) enables the smaller schools to at least have a chance vs the larger schools with deeper pitching rosters. But, it also allows a school with 2 or 3 “A” level pitchers to stay with those same guys one week to the next.

What a game!!!  The Rocks get state championship No. 2. And it was Caleb Ricks sealing the deal, just as he did with a pick six for the football Rocks in December.

I'm excited to announce that I will be live broadcasting all Highlands Baseball games live on bluebirdsradio.com . First will be Friday, with first pitch scheduled for 1:30 against South Warren.

No, but the layout of the tournament is different, too. The first round games are Thursday and Friday with the quarterfinals on Saturday. The semifinals and finals are the next Friday and Saturday. Yo

Do people attend this like they do the Boys Sweet 16? I’ve attended numerous basketball tournaments staying the whole week.

Very, very few attend that are not associated with a team.  I'd say 5%, and that's probably high.

Highlands vs Trinity in the finals.

DO NOT underestimate just how good that starting rotation is for the Birds. Benzinger's starters are 9-0 in their last 9 with an ERA/WHIP well under 1. Wiggins/Robinson/Forton. all flat out dealing currently.

Don't get me wrong...Lyon Co. is REALLY good if they match up in round 2, but I think Highlands is right there with them. If that is the Round 2 matchup, that and Trinity-Sayre will be the two best games in the Elite 8.

This.

List the top pitchers in the tournament. The teams with 2 pitchers high on that list are your favorites.

I'd probably pick the same, although McCracken County did win at PRP and lost a tight 2-1 decision to Trinity during the regular season. McCracken has been good since they opened, playing in the state tournament 11 times in 12 years (their only absence was the canceled 2020 season). They lost in the finals in 2019, 2021, and 2024 and have yet to win it. This might be their year.

I agree on McCracken and when I was trying to get the thread going I gave the Mustangs strong consideration.

Why are people sleeping on Boyd County?  Seems to me that have got as good of a shot as anyone.

They hit, pitch, play defense, and work the base paths. They have a deep rotation of arms, which is a major plus this time of year. The biggest knock against them is probably their youth. Only three seniors in the lineup and rotation, and most of their top arms are sophomores.

I can see them reaching the semifinals, where they would potentially see Trinity, Sayre, or Taylor County. That may prove a bridge too far.

This is definitely a team to look out for in 2026, but we'll see how the young Lions handle the big stage, starting this afternoon.

Trinity 12 Meade County 2

Final.

T's Gray Davis, Konnor Stargel, and Griffin Brunstetter combined to one hit the Green Wave. Pretty dominant outing from the Rocks on the mound, six walks aside.
