Tubby Smith's Last Year?

Featured Replies

After winning a championship with somone else's team, Tubb Smith hasnt produced any results in the big dance with one of the greatest college basketball schools there is. As a Kentucky fan i dont see tubby staying much longer without producing championships. He is a good coach dont get me wrong but i do not think he is the right coach for UK. Recurting is horable, he gets someone like Perry over someone like Chris Lofton, who is putting hole UT bball team on his shoulders. Used to the name Kentucky would get nothing but All Americans now, we are lucky if they get one let alone good ones at that. Morris and Crawfrd are okay players, nothing that a school like duke or even flordia would look at though. I think that this is the last if not one of the last teams that Tubby Smith has at UK. What your opioion?

Was too many untruthful things in this post to even reply.

Times have changed my friend, this isn't the same old college game, parity is here to stay. Pitino had the chance to stay, you can't fault Tubby for winning that championship with all of those "studs". Recruiting has been a bit sour but don't forget he brought in a very good class (rankings wise) in the Jr class, just shows you shouldn't always put faith in the rankings of HS players, much maturation can occur within a four year time span. Tubby is a very good coach, I know he hasn't won a championship or even been to the final 4 in quite a while but don't have such a short memory, did go 18 years without a title between '78 and '96.

I don't think so. I think we will find out more next season if he has a 3 peet of 10 L seasons. Patterson has a lot to do with his fate IMO.

All I have to say is this...Billy Donavan would look good on the UK bench. Tubby is a good coach but seems to have trouble recruiting. Standards are high at UK..something needs to change.

Donovan won't come here. Why should he? He is at a pretty high peek in Gainesville. Also has a nice pipleline of recruiting going on in the south...

Why can't we just say Tubby should move on?

^He just isn't a good fit for a UK coach...nothing against the man or his coaching philosophy. It just doesn't work.

Welcome to the next Alabama Coaching Search!!!

FYI, I like Tubby.

I wouldn't be surprised to see Donovan take the UK job. He will always be second-banana to football at UF.

Donovan would come to UK in a heart beat. Nothing wrong with flordia but like LSURock said basketball is second fiddle to footbll down there. It was 18 years between championships, but they were final fours and they were competitive. I was reading an article in ESPN the magizine, and they were talking about how rupp was one of the most intemidating if not the most intemidating place to play.NOws its like no big deal to play UK. I was at the mississippi valley state game and that was a team that UK should have beaten by 30 if not 40 points. But some may say it was an off night, but having an off night aginst team like a MVSU over and over agian there has to be something wrong!

Tub must go. The survival of the UK basketball dynasty depends on it.

I, too, agree that Donovan wouldn't come to Lexington. 5 years ago, yes he would have. Not now. Why on earth would he leave sunny Florida with that kind of recruiting tool? Unless UK can pull off a hire to replace Tubby like unc did, it could be many years before Kentucky can recover from Tubbyball.

18%

For his sake, I hope this is it for him... the 18% don't deserve a good coach like Tubby.
