Final. The Steelers close out their season with their 5th straight loss and now have not won a playoff game in 9 years the last being 2016. The Ravens will see if they will take on the Bills in Buffalo if they win tomorrow and if they were to lose to the Broncos then the Ravens would host the Texans in that case as the Chiefs opponent will be the lowest seed reaming after this weekend.

The Steelers’ last 5 playoff games they’ve found themselves down:

21-0
28-0
35-7
28-0
21-0

That’s not a small sample & it dates back to 2017. Something’s gotta give, there.

It’s time for Pittsburgh to make a change. It has been time. Tomlin is a good coach, but sometimes you just need a change to revitalize. 8 years without a playoff win in Pittsburgh, that’s just not good. They’re mediocre - just good enough to get a winning record and into the playoffs, but not nearly good enough to make actual noise.

They did take advantage of a weak early schedule winning 5 of the first 7 games. The combine record of their first 4 wins was 41-61. They did have wins against 4 playoff teams but they all before Thanksgiving.

Everything you say about being just good enough to sneak into the playoffs but being one and done is true.  But the reason isn’t so much that Tomlin has gotten stale as much as it is mediocre quarterback play.  Drafting somewhere around 20 every season gets you where they are.  I give them credit for trying something different this time around and it looked promising for a while.  But the free fall over the course of the last month may very well have Steelers management looking for new blood.

Not a popular opinion, I know.   And maybe making the playoffs year in and year out would satisfy most fan bases, but up in Steel City they expect more.

The Ravens won by 14, but the margin felt much larger. They struck early and went in cruise control the rest of the way. The Steelers were probably the worst team in the playoffs and Lamar and company knew they could score at will, if needed.

I believe most of the replies centered on that we have to consider the very real possibility that George doesn’t know what “optimistic” means.

On the other side of the coin, he may have just been sarcastic because it was a bit of a silly question.

Ever since Big Ben started to fall off.

Right and I know I am on record here about seeing what kind of coach MT is once Big Ben starts falling off/leaves.
