Strange question, but anyone have any idea how old the turf is at St X?  The gold & white seem to be fading / missing quite a bit.

I think it was last replaced 2017. The turf is awful.

It is a shame that a first class school like St. Xavier has such a poor playing service.  On top of that, if you are a really good middle school football player the playing surface at X is a reason not to go to X.  You are better off considering Trinity or CAL.

To be fair, while CAL's turf color is better, it is a funky VERY hard style of turf that I have not seen anywhere else but CAL.

Ouch... but I would venture to say that St. X would be more than happy to put CAL on the schedule for every year.

It's not really a hard turf, just a little "slick" ?.  Turf shoes instead of cleats come in handy.

I'm sure CAL would welcome that, however potentially losing to a 3A school would not do much good for the Tigers if they get beyond the 2nd round of the playoffs.  They need to focus on beating Manual for now and winning district.  CAL might be able to show them the secret if they ask nicely ?

That is sort of what I was thinking.  As tough as X's schedule already is, the last thing they should do is add CAL, a team that may beat them.  Additionally, CAL has Ryle on the schedule and we know what happened the last time Ryle and X played.

It is like an indoor carpet pulled over concrete. We fixed a special area on the top floor of our athletic complex with indoor carpet for workouts and it was very similar. 

The first time we played at CAL, 2019, we(Mercer) won. That was a huge win for our program. 

Got to see CAL this past Tuesday night. Coach Cantwell does a super job and they will be very good again.
