I kind of addressed that in a post a few hours ago on here lol. I think he would do a great job, the main downside with him is I think he will be here only a year. He is still someone that will get another chance as a HC soon. I want someone established but also will be here for awhile and not looking for a new dc again in a year.

My bad, I didn't read a few of the posts, got it now.

Lou is a good coach and will land somewhere.  But I agree with him being let go.  The defense was consistently mediocre with flashes of really good play.  That side of the ball here needs a new voice.

Wow. So shocking to hear you say that! ?

I agree, I want someone that wants to stay and be happy as our DC for the long term.

Agreed! Someone good that is going to stay here. That’s the biggest thing that has made the Chiefs so successful. Is how they have been able to keep their DC the whole time, and their defense is a big reason why they have won these super bowls.

Isn’t that the truth, several parts of life relate to this.

We all know how Mike Brown really loved Marvin Lewis.  Any chance we see him coming back as DC?  Fits much of Futurecoach’s well thought out criteria.

Let walk:

-Tanner Hudson
-Alex Cappa
-Cordell Volson
-Sheldon Rankins
-Sam Hubbard
-Vonn Bell
-Joe Bachie

Resign:
*
-Mike Gesicki
-Cody Ford
-Devin Cochran
-Joseph Ossai
-Restructure Trey's 1 year into a 2 year with a FAT bonus.
-Cal Adomitis
-Ryan Rehkow
- Dax Hill (non fifth year option, cheaper 2-3 year deal)
Depends on FA's brought in:
*
-BJ Hill
-ADG. Shaka and Njongmeda could step into his role. Might have a larger LB and smaller CB presence if we adopt a true 4-3 defense. It depends.
-Germaine Pratt. Gotta see how he steps up with a new LB coach and a new DC. He's 75% lazy, 25% top tier. And he's slow as hell when we drop him into coverage. He has no hustle.
-Mike Hilton (depends on new DC formation and price)
-Jay Tufele.
Offseason Needs:
*
-2 guards(1 needs to be known reliable, we need nothing more than average, 1 could be drafted if the chips fall right)
-Veteran pass rush presence. Could be IDL if we resign Ossai. regardless. we need a vet and it should be the most expensive FA we sign.
-RB behind Chase Brown. IDK if Khalil Herbert is the man.He could be, he did well in the last game, but he was 100% scared of contact. He shrunk every time contact got close.
I just truly don't know, depends on how much we manipulate money, but it sounds like Joe and Chase have their mind made up:
*
-Tee Higgins

The defense will be worse next year. They have no money to fix it.

That is a problem when you have beaucoups dollars tied up in a couple of high profile players.  See Reds, Cincinnati.

But the flip side is this.  Once Big Ben went into decline, the Steelers’ QB play has been good enough to make the playoffs but not good enough for a deep run.  Heck, they’ve got two right now that nobody else really wants. That combination means first round draft picks that don’t get you real star quality signal-callers.   It’s something of a testament to Tomlin that they’ve scraped their way into the past couple of postseasons.  But they’re not SB quality without an elite QB.

100% true say this today and did not realize it but all 3 of the other teams in the AFC North have won playoff games since the Steelers last won a playoff game. Yes even the Browns it was the Steelers they beat. lol

I am all for Coach Lewis coming back as our DC.

I wouldn’t mind that. Only problem with that is if they do fail again next year, they probably would get rid of Taylor and just promote Marvin back to head coach again lol.
