2025 Sayre Spartans

Sayre Spartans ⚔️

2024 Outcome: 15-0, Class 1A State Champion ?

2025 Outlook: The loss of the two headlining names on the marquee will make last season a monumental challenge to top. Additional losses of several vital components from a strong supporting cast will render 2024's meteoric rise difficult to even replicate.

The stars were in alignment for a championship run, but those celestial bodies are moving on to the next level, tempering any thoughts of a repeat from the pundits.

? Luke Pennington (QB) | Brock Coffman (ATH) | Charlie Slabaugh (RB/LB) | Kemonte Braxton (WR/DB) | Chase Parker (WR/DB) | Pierre Kauffman (DL) | Robbie Jenkins (DB)

? Entire OL | Caden Jones (RB/DB) | Harrison Phillips (LB) | John Luke Minner (DE) | Jackson Stuart (LB/WR)

The offensive line returning intact suggests that Sayre will build from the inside out. Combined with the production returning in the defensive front seven, the Spartans could cling to a mid-Top 10 preseason ranking in a shallow class.

With Chad Pennington at the helm and fresh off a state championship, they're well positioned as a draw in Lexington. Now feels like an opportune time to upgrade the schedule and entrench Sayre School in the upper echelon of 1A.

We'll get a peek at the schedule in due time. Until then, what does BGP expect from the freshly crowned 1A champions in 2025?

I'm hearing the same question.

The only two questions surrounding the Spartans.

Who replaces the triple headed monster of Pennington, Slabaugh, and Coffman?

Who is the signal caller (Perry or Pennington)?

Sayre has a huge opportunity in Fayette County right now. They just showed the entire county that they can win a state championship, as schools like Henry Clay and Dunbar struggle Sayre is a place to go and be a part of success. Plus, they just had a player sign a D-1 power 4 conference.

Sayre could explode and become a destination school for some young men wanting to be a part of something big.

Just how expensive is it to attend Sayre?  Have heard it is pretty hefty.

I’ve heard it was cheaper than Lexington Christian but I’ve not actually checked into that.

Just did a google search and was shocked to see Sayre’s high school tuition is $28,000 per year.  Gulp!

Google revealed LCA’s tuition is $8,750 per year.

I don't see how Sayre has the pieces to repeat what they just did, and I am certain they will add some along the way before the season kicks off. I believe Pennington will be around for a few more years at least, doesn't he have another kid on the team?
