I agree. The schedule has stayed close to the 1A level. I would like to see atleast 1 power team on there such as a Beechwood, Mayfield, CAL, or Lexington Christian added to push the team to see where they are at.

Right, Sayre will be tough to assess until they are deep into the playoffs.

The good thing is they have a good scrimmage game with Breathitt County who should be pretty tough, then open the season against a top 5 team in Kentucky Country Day. Late September they will meet some top 10 1A teams in Newport and Louisville Holy Cross, as well as a upcoming Bracken County team who I have been very impressed with the past two seasons.

I don't see how Sayre has the pieces to repeat what they just did...

These two comments might fit together. For a very young program, Sayre seemed to catch lightning in a bottle with some extremely talented pieces. However, that talent isn't always there at Class 1A schools and I'm sure the tuition is a road-block for many families, thus limiting the potential roster. Its possible the schedule is a reflection of what the talent level will be the next two years.

It’s a balancing act for 1A programs. After winning a state championship there are many teams across the state at every level that refuse to play, despite losing as much as the Spartans have and only returning 400 yards of offense.

As a coach you must do your best to balance a competitive schedule that resembles your team’s talent level. This schedule resembles the Spartan roster on paper. There isn’t a Coffman, Slabaugh, or L. Pennington lining up next year! Coaches kill teams and by overachieving in the schedule department.

Anybody got in news around the Sayre area?

Any Updates? Anything would be appreciated.

Looking forward to their game in Brooksville against Bracken County.  Sayre has beat them the last two years.  40-21 in 2023 and 26-14 in 2024.

Any word on Sayre? Any updates would be super.

They just finished up, or are finishing up a camp, I believe in Tennessee. About all I got.

It will be interesting to see the new Spartans tomorrow vs Lafayette. We will get our first look of this team.

No question, Bracken Co. this year.  Fun fact….Polar Bears are ferocious man eaters capable of swimming 50-60 miles hunting for their prey and are faster runners than man.  This group of Polar Bears are going to make it a long night for the Spartans.
