Well, the film don’t lie as far as who is punching who at the end of the game on the last play, yes emotions are high, but that does leave a bad taste, also #4 for Beechwood was trying to help the QB up on the last play and was pushed away, it would have been different if #4 only tried to help the player up on that play only, but it was obvious he and other team members helped on multiple players up before.

Summing it up, Regardless of winning or losing, how you go about carry yourself is more important in life at the end of the day.

I get the frustration losing the game but the the WR needs to reflect and learn how he can be better handle frustration and disappointment when it happens again in his life. We all face frustration in life - how we handle it and grow from it is what defines us.

Might be just a generational perspective by me.  Got to admit in the 60’s we did a lot of things wrong…like salt pills for two a days to help prevent cramping.  But we were taught valuable life lessons and carried it on to those we later coached.  Those lessons included to always respect the field of battle by giving one’s best and leaving it all on the field.  To always respect our competition and when the game was over showing good sportsmanship and gratitude for the opportunity to compete representing our schools, our families, and the lifelong impressions we choose to have remembered.

I am agreeing with you that you need to control your emotions.  Yes,  100% CORRECT.  But the player involved was taking up for his player.  If an opposing player flexes on you, then that would have been a flag in regular season.

Also, not one dad, mom, coach, fan, official can tell me that there is not trash talking on both sides.  Not one team is innocent.  We all know what happens.  Unfortunately, there are 3 sides to a story.  their side, our side and then the truth.

And how is the young man that hurt his foot or ankle that came out of the game?

The Truth is this and this is truth. Referees allow it. If they allow it and call 3 Unsportsmanlike against 1 teams and the other team gets 0 then yes they are partial. It's like holding. You can call it every play but if one teams gets 5 holding calls and the other team gets 1 then yes officiating is partial. 

I'm not judging anyone just my two cents. Both coaches need to control it.

Totally agree, Coaches can control most of these actions on and off the field, it was evident out of the gate during the coin toss toss which coach showed appreciation for the players out there as well as the other coach and while to me (IMO) another coach showed a arrogance stepping back quickly to his side line while all the players and officials were still in the center of the field shaking hands.

I don't think one person will argue your in game points. It happens and it will continue to happen.

I think most times kids get over it at the end of the game .. shake hands and move forward and generally handle things pretty well with very few exceptions.

With that said ... where things got interesting are when the head coach and star player decided on Tuesday of state championship week that they were going to make statements on the radio that were either misguided gamesmanship or something else. Let's not pretend that this is the only time when the team in question has went out of their way to insult their opponents BEFORE they played. It is who they are. 

So ... everyone can try to redirect what the issue really was but the fact of the matter is this ... when you play a team that has won 6 out of the last 8 state championships in their class (now 7 out of 9) don't throw statements around to intentionally insult the team in question. Say that to your team or teammates ... and not in public. Did they really think Beechwood players were not football players? If so ... then they made their bed ... have fun sleeping in it.

Its just like 2021 .. Beechwood came into the game 14-0 ... had given up 86 points all year to that point ... yet the opponent decides its better to call them out in public and insult them instead of not poking the bear. Great idea ... that stuff rarely works when it comes down to 2 really talented teams.

Its really important that we not recreate a narrative that omits the truth. Both teams on the field understand what happens between the lines. Trying to paint one team as just as guilty following those Tuesday comments is comical. I am proud of our coaches and players ... its obvious that they have been there before and they acted like it.

I love Coach Hergott!  That guy is the absolute best.  He’s the kind of guy you want in your fox hole.  Hope he continues to coach at Beechwood into the foreseeable future.

Typical of OC not surprised in the least bit. I think this game is over by halftime.

If Beechwood wins 2A this year you can almost say Beechwood owns 2A and could win 2A every year.
