Quick question here. Did that Sayre O-line give up a sack today?

No sacks. More impressive Sayre had 2 yards rushing at the end of the 3rd.

Raceland just can't catch a break. They've been a loyal side-piece for years and the 'ship' finally broke off its long term thing with Pikeville.  But you know the type. Players gonna play.

  • This probably be the most painful Raceland finals loss. Raceland was in position to win this game today and just had the wrong decisions or wrong execution at the worst possible times. Huge

  • Trust me when I say I am on the struggle bus with everything going on.  And then the TD celebration and Da BGP Boyz came out to play.  LOL Congrats again to both teams, it was a great 1A game.

Anyone got the box score for this one?

Congrats to Sayre! They did things right and won this thing for the first time. Coach Pennington built his program from the ground up, and now 1-A is paying attention. Congrats to the Rams on a great year. They played hard and never gave up.

Thought that TD celebration Coffman had was about comeback and bite him. Had a costly PI one drive on defense and an ugly punt that set up Raceland nicely for that last drive. The way Raceland was  running the ball was setting them up nicely for a win. Can’t believe they decided to throw it smh. Really good game by both teams. Big congrats to Sayre!

Jokes aside, Raceland's not going anywhere. I expected this to be a transitional year with a young team, but they had other ideas. The Rams return a lot next season and might be one of the safest picks among this year's finalists to be right back here next year.

I’m thinking they are preseason #1.

If Sayre didn’t lose the house I’d say they should, but hard to replace what they lost.

I don't disagree. They'll have a strong case.

I believe Raceland has a very good chance to get their championship next year. I think that Sayre is losing quite a few from this year’s team.

Went to the 1-A game.  Nice recognition for the 1-A district Players of the Year.  Great looking group of young men.  I was impressed with the interaction with the boys before and during the award ceremony.  I guess talent respects talent. Even the parents had nice thing to say about opposing players. Respect by all.

Now on to the game. Two very different teams.  Sayre throws the ball almost all the time.  Pennington is a solid player.  Coffman is the real deal. Sayre has a middle linebacker (#1 Slabaugh) is a beast and seems to love to hit. Raceland running backs (#2 Marushi) ran hard.  QB (#10) Waller played well and contributed in different way.  Two contrasting teams.  Sayre wanted to pass and did effectively.   Raceland wanted to prove they could run the ball.  that's the way the game went. Raceland went on a 4th down right before half and failed.  Sayre went down and scored right before half.  To me that was the deciding factor in the game.  It was a well-played game by both teams. I feel for the team that came up short.  Congratulations to Sayre on a great game plan and an offence that would be hard to come up with a scheme to defend.

Congrats to Sayre! Very Impressive to win it in so few years!

Just my thought this game never seemed like Sayre was going to lose. Raceland was very predictable in their play calling. Wasn't impressed with Raceland today.

I don't know which one is funnier, they both are some of your best work!

Congrats to Coach Salmons and the Rams on an excellent season! Congrats to Coach Pennington & DC Brian Washington (coached Brian as a WR @ Paris HS in 1988-1990... he was a sophomore when I got there) on their state title!
