Absolutely, as I said above 7 win seasons without state titles won’t cut it at Owensboro. They have a a standard of excellence that they expect to win titles not make the semifinal.

It seems other schools are hiring at a quicker pace.  What is the delay?  Now that school is out for Christmas break, this is the time that players will be transferring because of spring practice.

They've won two state titles in their history - 1974 and 1986. I understand the "7 win" part you mentioned, but if a state title is part of the standard, then they've almost never met that.

They have actually won 4.  1917, 1974,1983, & 86.  Runner Ups in 99,00,14,20

Eh, that's a technicality. In 1983 they were state At-Large champs but they lost in the state final to Trinity. And 1917 was way before any real system of declaring a state champion had been developed.

I do not expect Edge to be in the mix BUT I have been wrong plenty of times before.

I did get a random text last night that something could be brewing and it would make OHS fans very happy.  I don't normally love speculation but I suppose it can be fun sometimes.  I couldn't pry anything else out of the source so I will keep working on it.

Quit raining on our parade Green County!!!  ?  Yes we  include Helms champships, 1917....we are the North Carolina of KHSAA.  1983 WAS  as state at-large championship.  Higgs on that team.  Got the ball 35 times a game and about 1 pass.  Too bad, because there was some GREAT athletes back then on OHS...Mack Dean, Ronnie Burroughs (Phily Eagles), Viince Buck (NO Saints) - although and underclassman, Justin Miller's dad Glendale was right before that time - incredible athlete.  Great job by Coach Moore but football was mostly run then. 

Owensboro has one of the best all-time athletic programs in the state though, although Football is the weakest of the 3 major boys sports though.

 

Baseball - 2nd in state titles tied with Manual with 6 (was 1st until St. X ran off 3 in the 2010's), 1st in state tournament appearances with 22, 1st in title game appearances with 11 - lost in 2009 final to LexCath 5 to 3

Basketball - 3rd most state titles, most appearances in Sweet 16 - 2015 last championship

Football - 2 state titles, 7th most winningist team behind Male, Mayfield, Highlands, Paducah Tilghman, Danville (playing since 1893 but most of those early years were a few games at best)

That's the problem sport - should be way more than 2 titles in football.

Only names I could even see a possible other than those would be Coach Wallace ( former Daviess county D Cord) is on Owensboro’s staff.

Depending on the last years feelings and emotions if he’s missed the game Matt Brannon ( Former Daviess county head coach) the job he did at Daviess was impressive. Would be a slam dunk if interested.

Nick Locher OHS class of 15 is the current DB coach at Hawaii. Owensboro fans would love that hire.

I thought of Locher - state runner up QB - tough as nails - college experience coaching.  He’s a winner.

High level high school experience as well if I’m not mistaken he was the DC at Valdosta High school In Georgia (winningest program in the nation) before going to Hawaii.

I’ve been told that Roberts and Hall do not want it.  I would say you could mark Union County guy off - I’m not interested and have heard no one mention his name.  I think Rector has TOO many losing seasons.  Yes a state championship in TN early on, but a lot of bad teams record wise.  Pass.  I still like Edge.

What would be your thoughts on Brannon? Haven’t heard his name just a thought ?
