Class 1A will not only be Crowning a New Champion, but a team will get there first every Championship. If my stats are right, none of these teams have ever won the State Championship.

So who wins there first championship in 2024 in Class 1A?

I’ve thought Sayre as a strong possibility since near the end of the regular season. Earlier on I felt like it would be Campbellsville. I’m keeping my pick with Sayre. With saying that, 1A has shown that it would be an interesting season in various ways than many anticipated earlier on during the season, if not before. It’s pretty awesome that all semi finalists in 1A haven’t won a state championship.

Raceland and KCD have runner up trophies. I don’t think Campbellsville has been unless it was heck in forever ago. Sayre is a new program so this is a first for them.

I would have chosen Sayre before last night when it became obvious Pennington is human.  Numerous over throws (weather was never discussed by announcers so wind might have been a major factor(?).  Brockman is a great athlete, but Rams are sure passing my eye test.

I am going with Raceland but Sayre is a very close second. In 1A especially, great players win games and Sayre looks to have the great players.

Nice thread! It didn't hit me that there was no champion left till I saw your thread. Your poll question got a vote from me, which I very rarely vote in polls.

Rain definitely played a factor last night for Pennington. Rain all but one qtr and wind in that game. Also wouldn’t have believed that Sayre would have the run success they did last night Slabaugh was a force! Everyone thinks it’s just Pennington and Coffman but Sayre has several weapons. Would love to see a Sayre vs Raceland rematch at Kroger Field.

Campbellsville has never made a state final.

Pikeville has been Raceland’s kryptonite. Raceland will win its first with relative ease and be the favorite for next year.

Having seen Raceland in person, I’m going with the Rams!

We’ve got a good number of votes in this poll. Anyone want to tell us your input?

Would love to see Matthew Jones at KCD get their first. Very underrated in what he has done at KCD.

First class guy and extremely creative.

Of the four teams left standing, got to go with Raceland. They seem to be the stronger team at this point. Seem to be more adept with the run or passing game week by week. I just think its coach Sammons and his Raceland team's time.

Campbellsville will return all but 4 players if I’m not mistaken. Entire offense is back.

Definitely does a good job. I remember the KCD of the '90s that struggled to field teams and were an easy win for everyone.

If we want to be technical, Kentucky Country Day did win an Eight-Man state championship in 2002, one of the four years in which it was officially sanctioned by the KHSAA. Eminence won the first three in 1999, 2000, and 2001.
