Coach Gay is a good man. Very well respected by all. Henry Clay has fallen on some tough times, and will tough competition every week, it will be a process. I’m interested to see who takes a swing at this one.

Anyone hearing of Brian Landis, currently an assistant at University of West Georgia, formerly of Georgia State University, Frederick Douglass, and UK, having thrown his hat in the ring for the Blue Devils gig?

Interestingly enought I've heard Landis' name dropped by 5 or 6 people as being interested in the Henry Clay job. That's definitely enough to make me wonder how much truth there is to the chatter. Also makes me wonder what would be a reason that would make him want to leave a job as safeties coach at a D1-FCS school for a high school job in Kentucky.

I think that would be a great grab if they can get em. Some times guys are just figuring out life and family changes can cause that change of pace. I think this job has potential and would love to see them land a good hire!

Very surface assessment here, but... Football in Carrollton, GA is likely much different from football in Atlanta at Ga. St. Looking at his social media, he hasn't posted very often since taking the UWG job, in comparison to when he was coaching the Panthers. He was very active then.

In addition, maybe taking a high school job allows him to reset his trajectory at the college level. On top of taking on the challenge of reviving the Blue Devils, which would ultimately mean having to dethrone the program that HE started.

I think that is quite the incentive!

Also his wife had a good job here in town with one of the television stations and she really hated to give it up so that maybe part of the reason if he is interested in coming back.  I also think it was them (Henry Clay) reaching out to him than the other way around.

I heard interviews started this week. Any updates or news?

Interesting I was wondering if they had already hired someone the job posting was taken down almost 2 weeks ago.

Under the right circumstances, yes.

We're asking just as posted is this a desirable job? What's the general perceived impression for this job.  Generally speaking most open jobs are not winning programs and there's usually some "lifting" to be done but there are "good"  jobs and other jobs.

Honestly? That it's a full blown mystery why one of, and some years, THE biggest public school in the state, that just so happens to be in one of the finest cities in Kentucky, that also just so happens to be blocks away from UK's campus... in one of the more desirable parts of Lexington at that? Has no more region titles as some programs out there that have just as many to their name(s) as they do stoplights in town.

No, most of the good players in Middle School go to Frederick Douglass or Bryan Station in High School. Really the only Lexington Schools that are relevant in High School Football is Douglass, Bryan Station, LCA and Lexington Catholic.

Is that a school issue, football issue or both? Part of it is just the make up of members on this board but I feel like people can talk about the school portion of places in a lot of places in the state. Lexington schools in general are kind of an enigma.
