Breathitt County 56 Walton Verona 7

It will be a trip to Ft. Mitchell next Friday for Breathitt County.

Yep, not much of a prize for the Bobcats.

Breathitt County controlled the game from the opening kickoff. Walton’s top receiver Michael Oldfield left with an injury 3 minutes into the game. Walton struggled to do much offensively, and Breathitt County hit on multiple big plays on offense to bust the game open early. It was all Breathitt County in this one.

I figured a Breathitt County win, but not by this much.

I agree. Walton had a nice run at the end of the year but the opposition was not good. Still, this is an impressive score for Breathitt County.

Yes I thought Walton got hot down the stretch.

Hope someone from Breathitt will address this.  Can you tell us about Freshman QB Miles Hollon?  11 for 12, 280 passing yards and 4 TDs.  Pretty impressive output and not quite consistent with team trends of predominantly ground game with enough air game to open up running lanes.

I was thinking something like 28-7.

Another joke first round game in the playoffs. They were numerous last evening!!

I'm not from Breathitt County, but I watched they're game against Somerset.  Hollen is a nice looking young quarterback.  He's got a really good arm, and very accurate when he gets set.  He's really small, but a good scrambler with a lot of quickness.  He'll tuck it and run or key a play alive with his legs.  The Bobcats run a lot of verticals down the middle of the field and have a game breaking wide receiver in Sperry.  Somerset beat them soundly 42-21, but they hit two deep throws for long touchdowns to keep from getting out of hand. Most of the game Hollen wasn't given time to throw but when we was, he was very dangerous. I would imagine they found a soft spot in Walton's pass defense and just kept going over the top.

WR Sperry had 4 catches, 177 yards and 3 TD's. Walton-Verona was only able to tackle him once after he caught a pass. I would say your guess is right about WV not being able to handle the long pass game of Hollon to Sperry. That 21 points is the difference in the score.

Sperry definitely was a big difference in the game last night. Breathitt hit multiple big plays to him early in the game, and just took control of the game right from the beginning. I believe Sperry missed a lot of their games earlier in the year, as it looked like he only played in 5 games leading into last night. He is tall and fast, and definitely adds a whole other dimension to Breathitt County to go with their running game. Walton had no real answer for him, especially after their top DB got injured 3 minutes into the game. It will be interesting how Breathitt next week does against Beechwood though, as Beechwood does have the speed to stay with him.

I thought this would be a better game too.
