Western cancels game with Campbellsville

Recommended Posts

How does/will this affect RPI for Campbellsville? My thought is that teams with a full schedule would have more opportunities to raise theirs and could hurt Campbellsville, but I could be completely off in my thinking. Just not sure how that would work.

Maybe one day the KHSAA will allow 2 schools to “combine” rosters and form one team (under VERY SPECIFIC conditions). Certain JCPS schools and certain smaller, rural county schools would benefit from such an opportunity.

Now this is just absolutely uncalled for. You sight bc your down to 18-19 players,(which I’ve seen Jenkins, Phelps, Lynn Camp show up with 12-16 players and play. Then you pick up a game against a weaker opponent, after canceling on another team. They shouldn’t be allowed to do so and should just have to take a forfeit.

I hate to be cynical, but it would appear Western didn't feel like they could compete with Campbellsville but Shawnee might be a winnable game.

Yeah, I am personally not a fan of this. Don’t schedule the game in the first place if you have these fears. Canceling because you don’t have enough guys - basically the stated reason - only to pick up another game the same day, yikes.

I’d have a lot of questions and concerns about this but the thing that sticks out to me is who would they play under? If both schools have had programs it’s hard to believe one or the other would want theirs to just disappear.

I know they have done this in rural areas of New York.  Where my friend lives, they combined two schools to be able to play 8 man football.  Apparently, they have schools in every little community much like KY use to.
