The Purples deserve the top spot, SR Deuce Bailey is outstanding but JR Trevy Barber is usually the best player on the field on Friday nights, very elusive and fun to watch. I will go ahead and get this out there, if PT runs through the regular season and brings home a State championship it’ll take an Herculean season from BG to make me believe the Blue Tornado aren’t #1. South Warren will always be a force as long as HC Brandon Smith is at the helm, bringing back his D1 QB SR Bryce Button and his experience will be key to their success. Time of possession, no turnovers and great defense, the Spartans recipe. I snuck Grayson County in at #8, do I think they could lose to Graves or Henderson any given Friday, absolutely, but their schedule and chances to make noise in the playoffs is much higher than the gauntlet they have to withstand. Adding to that they have a very special player in SO Kadin Hanshaw who was a workhorse for a very young team that went 10-2 last year. Franklin Simpson makes the cut at #10 same story as the Cougars of Grayson County, could definitely lose to the ones listed behind them but I have the Wildcats winning 3A District 2 and having a nice playoff run.
 

Should be a great year in WKY, I see 2 or 3 State champions in this group.

@Purple88 I believe Coach Brannon stepped down as the HC at Daviess County, winningest Coach in school history. I would like to see the Panthers show some sort of life, a few solid teams have came out of there, possibly a new face will light the fire.

I agree with you on that for sure! I believe BG would be Tilghman’s toughest competition! I’ve always wanted Tilghmans schedule to be tougher and I feel like BG could easily do that and it’s not too far, on top of them be a consistently good team.

BG and PT threw this summer at Greenwood... BG handled PT during that one meeting. That said, there is no denying PT's loaded deck of players, and Coach Thompson is an excellent coach who has won everywhere he has been. 

You can thank the RPI for probably never seeing BG v. Mayfield. BG v. PT would be more likely. 

I would rank 'em:

1. BG

2. PT / O-Cath Mayfield - All great teams, all can beat one another. Overall talent goes to PT but Mayfield gonna Mayfield and I feel bad for anyone who has to try and tackle the Atwell kid from O-Cath. 

3. Owensboro / South - Will be interesting to see both these teams this year. Both have the pieces to be dangerous.

  Great write up! Definitely have to agree with you on Mayfield. The Qb position is the biggest question mark I have. Both quarterbacks seem to lack confidence in the passing game. After the scrimmage against Owensboro yesterday, I’m still unsure on who should be the qb going forward. The weapons are there for Mayfield but you still have to figure out who is the more competent qb.

  I liked #11 because of his quicker decision making. #2 seems like he has a higher ceiling but he just doesn’t make quick decisions in the passing game. The beginning of the season will probably look a little ugly but I can see everything clicking towards the end of the season.
