The one thing that will not change is Newport will be the heavy heavy favorite to win the 9th.

With the big changes CCH will only win 25 games.

I will, somewhat. I cannot speak for CCH but I will comment on the Jags. You’ll get no disagreement from me that Newport is undoubtedly the best team in NKY with the talent they have. You may even be

No one in the entire state has nothing but rave reviews for Kinney and no one is going to "shut him down" and he very well could avg. 30 or more frankly.  I'll disagree that he's played against better

Interesting point to ponder ... who are the most talented players from the 9th Region in the last 30 years?

I'm a younger cat, just in my time and off the top of my head I would go with;

•James"Beetle" Bolden

• Nick Ruthsatz

•Brandon Hatton

•Sean McNeil

•Adam Kunkel

•Jake Meyer

• Jake Ohmer

•Cole Von Handorf

•CJ Frederick

•Dantaie Allen

To name just some.

Just to clarify, Jake O & DA played in the 10th.  But I get the point of your list.

Probably the closest comparison to TK is Jake M, one just has more talent surrounding him than the other.

Everyone loves to anoint the latest as the "greatest", but NKY has been blessed with some very talented hoopers for a long, long time.

Highlands had a kid 12-15 years ago who was Mr. Basketball and played at LSU.  I cannot remember his name.  And Dante Allen played in the 10th region.  I think when it is all said and done you will be able to add 2 current players too your list Kinney and EJ Walker.

Depending how young you are you must have never saw Duran Jefferson and Elijah Pittman play. I feel that those 2 should be considered for top 10-15, they were absolute DAWGS.

I would love to see EJ Walker come out this year and dominate games the way he is capable of. His ceiling is so high as far as what more he can do to control games at the high school level. If he decides he wants to actually dominate games where his presence is needed in the paint Lloyd could really make some noise this year. He is most likely a 6'8" wing at South Carolina next year so if he decides that is what he wants to do in high school I respect that also.

If Newport were to lose Kinney does that change it?

Griffen Starks announced he is transferring to Archbishop Carroll in Philly.  That evens the playing field a little!

They will more than likely have one more announced after this weekend.

If true then I think that is a terrible decision by the Starks family.  The kid was playing with one of the top juniors in the country if he wanted eyeballs on him then there would be no better place than Newport for the next few years.  Also could have been a great opportunity to win a state championship.  If I am not mistaken I think his older brother made a bad decision also and I don’t know where he is now.

Starks transferring I think is due to some news that is about to come out in the near future.

Hmm the plot thickens.

Any elaboration on that? Nobody here will mind, I'll come out and say I've been hearing Tay Kinney is leaving to go prep. Specifically OTE in Atlanta, the same place Jasper Johnson from Woodford is going. And I'm from Covington, just the scuttle butt in NKY.
