Cal had a funny comment. He said all he could see in that arena was white shirts. Everyone had white shirts. But at the end of the game the crowd was chanting "Go Big Blue". Where were all those fans? Somehow Big Blue Nation always shows up.

Z played just as good D as either one of those last night, fought back, blocked shots, fought around White and stole an entry pass, he acquitted himself really well. Yes, that's what I said.

AND if you go back and check my posts I’ve been saying for 3-4 weeks that Z is gonna HAVE to play if we’re going anywhere in the postseason because of the spacing and scoring he creates on the offensive end. Miss St played defense the same way when Ugo, Bradshaw and Z were in the game.

we go 8-8 (to go up 8!!) from the line, have 1 TO AND STILL GET CAUGHT because we didn’t handle ANY of the 5 possessions defensively the way they should’ve and you’re saying NONE of that is on Cal???!!! Nope, I  didn't  say Cal is faultless. But it isn't all on him. The Ugo foul and Sheppard  turnover plays were on those two and ate up 6 points of that lead.

Again, c’mon, I’m sure you know BB better than that!   Like I said, after watching some of Cal’s practices I’m impressed, seriously. That is pretty cool that you get to watch UK practices. 

I’m gonna say he hasn’t went through 2 min of EOG situations, well, if he hasn’t, obviously then it is on him!!  Yes, dumb TO by Reed, but, it was obvious that he was getting out of whack so why didn’t our Hall of Famer call a TO, we had 2 left!!!

You need to read my posts closer, both of you.  I absolutely agreed  that Cal did a good job coaching in that game, for the first 38 minutes, (actually 38 min and 51 sec) so you’re off on that response 

I stand by what I said about Reed’s TO, it was blatantly obvious he was getting in a panic so Cal should’ve called a TO, that’s an easy one, especially with 2 TO’s left 

The D absolutely spaced different with Z in the game, the man guarding Z didn’t help off as hard or far on the mid ballscreens as they do with O or AB and if they do Z makes them pay, go back and watch when he first comes in, his man helps hard on Sheppard, he reverses the ball back to Z and he goes and dunks it, you see O or AB do that from above the ft line?  I can answer that, NO!!  Next time on the mid ballscreens Z’s man stays tight to him which creates space for Reed and he knocks down a 3

actually O’s foul and Reed’s TO only ate up 3 pts of the lead, O’s foul only gave them 1 extra pt on the ft, he gets 2 pts anyway if O doesn’t foul him and they hit 2 fts off of Reed’s TO

Just for the record, my sarcasm isn't remotely directed towards you regarding the lack of ever giving Cal credit for anything.

I see a lot of complaints about Cal not calling a timeout before Sheppard's turnover. 

Reed still had his dribble and was driving up court in the first picture below. As the pics show, he had two teammates less than 15 feet away. I think it's reasonable to think he'd make the correct play and throw it to one of the two open players right in front of him. By the time he started to get in trouble until he goes to pass it, less than .6 of a second tick off. Not much time for Cal or a teammate to call a time-out.

Reed panicked, didn't want to throw it to anyone but Reeves (the best FT shooter on the team) and made a bad pass.  I think they were all expecting a faster foul attempt than that.  

Coulda shoulda woulda...could Cal have called a TO (yes, so could Sheppard).  

Cal did a good job of rotating offense for defense the last minute.  He also didn't foul, allowed MSU to score with plenty of time for the Cats to get the last shot...Had a great dribble drive with Waggener and dish to the hot hand for the game winner.  Pretty good coaching!

Can college coaches call a live-ball timeout? I thought they took that away a few years back?

It happened so fast that I don't think Cal or anyone could or would have called a timeout. It's not like Reed had picked up his dribble and was pivoting looking to pass. He was in full sprint with three open teammates to pass to, he just chose the one that wasn't open.

No, they changed it back and coaches can as long as their team has clear possession in the last 2 minutes of the half. But there was no reason to call one. Reed had 3 of 4 teammates open to pass to, he just chose wrong.

However, I will say I don't think I have seen Reed Sheppard panic on a play this entire season.
